    Transmission problems

So I have been having some trans problems on my 04 s4 Tip with random downshifting. I took it to the dealership because its still under warranty and about a week later they come back to tell me that I need to replace my transmission pan for 1100 dollars before any work can be done and if I come get the car it may void the warranty if I drive it more. What do you think?

    Re: Transmission problems

what kind of downshifting problems did you have. the dealer likes to start with the least causeable factor so if your trans pan was dented that is where they would start diagnosing from and move onto something else. unfortunately $$$ along the way

That's a bummer... you have no way of proving that you didn't do the damage to the pan.

    Re: Transmission problems

Ok do this take a pic of the pan for us if you can. Make sure it is a close up. I have pulled my pan several times and there is no reason why this should be effecting the Down shifting. Not only that but if it is effecting the down shifting then remove the pan (or we can all help you locate a shop that can for you) and bang out the dent.

This sounds like dealer run around. I had the same issue with my starter. For god sakes these dealers some are great some suck. They thought they should change my brake switch. Bottom line I ended up fixing it my self.

TAKE THAT PIC and we might be able to help you save 1100
