    Initial logs @ idle -- Round 1

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Following are my first logs (round 1) for my car fully stopped with some revving. I will do a "round 2" with a friend/fellow AZiner to take it from 2500 RPM to redline on WOT.

Some stats not on the logs:
    - Outside temp: -11C or so.
    - EGT Temps: 420C @ 760 RPM ; 445C @ 3000RPM.
    - Timing Retards (CFs): 0s all across 4 cylns @ idle.

So what do you guys think from this initial data? Am mostly concerned about AFR for now. Any comments welcome.

Re: Initial logs @ idle -- Round 1

Any Reason why your logging your car at idle for A/F?

Did you recently do a major engine build?

I thought, and I could be wrong....that logging provides insight into issues that are happening under "Load"

Re: Initial logs @ idle -- Round 1

^^ you are right, the ARF will be really tested during the second round with my friend at higher RPMs.

This was just to get most of the initial data in at idle since its the first time I log my car (got the VAG yesterday as well), and to make sure nothing is really bad. If something is not going well here, then it will only be much worse when I do WOTs and redlines.

Thanks for your reply John. The only part I did not know how to interpret was Column "E", the lambda figures in % from block1 and how that relates to the readings in Block31 (#s in red).. I do know that if its minus it means car is running rich, and if positive, car is running lean, but I am not sure why am having both positive and negative numbers on idle.. Also, should I look JUST at block31 for AFR or block1 as well?

Re: Initial logs @ idle -- Round 1

Well, the negative values shown (and the positive values too,) are the fuel flow adjustments applied by the ECU to achieve a target lambda of 1.0. The "lambda" label for the two data blocks is not the same parameter. Note also that the trend in the first log of 001, is mostly negative, with coolant temps below normal operating temp, compared to the cyclic variation from negative to positive in the second log of block 001 where coolant temps are at operating temps. For your last question, the relevance of the data is dependent on the context of the situation, it's important to note if the fuel adjustments are near the limits of the ECUs capability, especially if the target lambda is not being achieved.
