I would love for a single kit...The way single turbo setups hit is just a complete pleasure to drive..You can see how hard this particular kit pulls up high, I love that.
quite laggy if youre not jumping into the powerband though,,
on that video in 1st gear, he isnt hitting 10 psi until 4800 rpm...


Someone make a good kit already...I'd give my money for one.

buy my post still stands. 22psi is absolutly nothing for a gt30 or larger turbo.

god. i really don't understand this either. what 'GT' are we talking about here? are we talking something like GURU's where it's GT2860r's? cause of coarse that will lagg more. it will make more power also.

x single will not outflow x twin.

if you put a 50lb/min turbo on the 2.7t and two 25lb/min turbo's on it, it will likely spool the exact same. and make the same power.

That turbo is capable of up to 600 hp... there could be some more interesting videos posted on here in a few months.

Your statement is 100% wrong, gt2860rs are making full boost by 4200rpm. Alexs car is set to 9lbs and hes making 9lbs at 3400 on his 28ss, another car at ssp is making maxed boost of 18lbs at 4k.. I'm all for single turbos, ask my buddy Laxman851...we've discussed this topic many times, and I would much rather have one big, single, laggy turbo that makes huge top-end power. The heavy hitter S4's could prob. beat this, as in the mid-low 11sec S4's, which are far and few between. ALSO, that single S4 is on a stock motor, so it's only going to handle 525-ish whp, and it's on a completely stock short-block, so it's not going to be some awesome ground-breaking S4 until the motor is built. So who has the ignorant comment now I ask you?

GT2860rs are rated at 360chp, 1 will hardly move a civic. It's more like to small-medium size turbos, plus theres more then just the size of the turbo that will create lag, like all the length in the exhaust manifolds runners.

There are several single setups running. Just because they aren't on the forum, doesn't mean there aren't any.

2.7 single 35r ran an 11.02 @ 129. Granted it was in a fairly lighter car, albeit the same weight as my S4...it still was rather impressive. This was also on a base tune as well.

I wouldn't really take too much into consideration, with regards to lag, at least with this video. You can clearly see the car never falls out of boost...even with its weak manifold setup. As we have seen in other single 35r setups. Full boost was below 4.5k


But once again 2.8 FATS...even when it doesn't full boost while in FATS, is still faster than the majority of the S4's out there. Give that car some decent timing, some legit boost and that car will run low low low low 2 second FATS.

oh trust me man, I have NO doubt that car COULD be a monster with a built motor/more boost. Here's the problem, with more timing/boost that motor would prob be beyond what our puny rod-bolts/rods could handle and they would snap like toothpicks. I'm not bashing the POTENTIAL of that set-up, I think it's awesome that someone did something different! I just wasn't super impressed with the acceleration from the video solely.

gt3582 is kinda small for that motor isnt it? theres a good amount of guys running that on 1.8s and 2.0 strokers. I hope its on a very safe tune to be spoolin that slow. i say gt42r single turbo s4.

I hear ya. I don't think this setup is pushing the limits of the rods yet. I think this could easily run a better/more aggressive tune and be in the boundaries of the stock block.

I don't think manifold design really helps though. I think this shop realizes that as well.

Yup! We are developing a setup that will put down serious power, but you are going to want to build your motor. Of course, you can go with a similar setup as this and not build your motor. But you wouldn't really get to push the tune, as seen in this video.

I am running a larger turbo, flows about 25-30% more air than the 35r and has similar spool characteristics. Of course the design of the manifold will be different and the length of the manifold piping is A LOT shorter.

as mike stated "Here's the #'s from only one revision on the tune." so I don't know if I'd say he said he "nailed" it. He did say that the MAFless tuning went perfect, but I doubt there are no revisions that could be made to have it perform better. Also, the shop has stated that this was an easy and quick way to set up the single turbo. They are planning on introducing more heat/customer friendly manifold design which will most likely be more friendly to the spool also. Not picking sides between a twin GT car and a single setup like this, but I think both have potential and both have yet to have that potential shown! There have been a few cars for each that have performed well but this year should be a good indicator of where the performance of these kits are at.
