Have any of you had issues with mounts breaking or getting exessive drive train lash under hard boost?

    TIA

Re: GT 3071 + stock mounts

It is def a recommendation to replace the motor mounts when upgrading the turbo. My mounts are even starting to go with my stock turbo (yeah, at times I like to ). FWIW, I seen a set of RS4 motor mounts being sold in the classifieds for $100 used (don't know how many miles). But even then, many would still recommend the 034 steet/track density mounts. I was contemplating on purchasing them, but was reluctant. I might still.

I don't have a BT/BAT, but I'm rocking the Street Density mounts, and I love 'em.

I still need a DTS, but I'm not paying >$150 for one. I will be making my own, sometime in the next year or so.

034 snub mount bracket + snub mount
DTS (ASP is cheaper than AWE)
Apikol rear diff mount & bushings

with those 3 things you dont need to touch the motor or trans mounts. I have stock 1.8t mounts for motor/trans, and the engine doesn't move at all even under hard launches.

Sure, they will help, but you'll notice much more by buying the things I mentioned above first.

Re: GT 3071 + stock mounts

I"m running S4 motor mounts in mine....had em for about 2 years. They were fine with a chip, but I definitely do get a lil more drivetrain movement since going BT....I'll be getting Street Density mounts soon tho

Just get the rear diff mount bushing and power ring, for less than $125 . No need for a DTS, you need to upgrade the bushings on it anyways, and it becomes the lowest point of the car too

Bushing? What bushing, that shit's going to be solid. I don't have a glass ass.

Ok, maybe I'll put something in between the trans and the mount.
Lowest point of the car ... right now my exhaust is, BUT I have a few things in mind. More info hit AIM or PM me.

DTS isn't really needed if you run aftermarket engine and tranny mounts.

He is talking about the bushings in the rear mounting plate.

As much as that's true, for me apparently it's not. I still get some movement when transitioning from a WOT to decel.

And I wasn't talking about the rear diff mounts when I said they were going to be solid. I meant the DTS, I will be making one for my car. It's part of another project, a project that won't be explained in public forums until it's done.

The rear diff mounts though, well... they'll eventually be solid. I already broke 'em once, so as soon as I learn to TIG I'll make my own.
    front mount
    Rear carrier

It hasn't happened since, and I've driven it harder, but I don't want that to ever happen again. That's why I was scared to launch it for a <2.0 60'. I kept remembering that event, and the cost.

Odd that it broke on you. I wonder if it has to do with the cold conditions where you live.

the rear carrier had a chip out of it from some external damage. It looked like something was backed over and it took a bite out of the rear carrier. When it broke it started there and went upward.

After looking at the break though, there wasn't a previous crack that was extended, it just plain broke. Meaning there wasn't any of the nice "polished" looking spots in the break, it was all fresh stress issues. Nothing fatigue related.

I don't have any pics of the damage before it broke, but the piece that chipped/broke off was no bigger than the file from a nail clipper.
