Lets try this again. New AEB head.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just picked up my new AEB head from the machine shop. Had a valve job, new valve seals, exhaust valve guides, pressure check, lifters serviced and resurface done.

Have new Supertech exhaust valves since my old ones were warped and Cat valve springs along with my Schrick 252/260 cams.

Gonna start putting the car back together in a little bit, I really dont feel like working on it though.

Looks great. Good luck with the install.
How to account for this massive success? Pure luck? Transcendental meditation? Machiavellian manipulation? Aerodynamics? High colonics? We haven't the slightest idea. -P.L. Newman

Take your time then. There is no rush to get it back together (unless you NEED the vehicle to drive). Take your time and do it right. You're good like that so this shouldn't be a problem.

When fatigue and frustration sets in, walk away and come back later.

SON OF A BITCH!!! My shitty ass ATP manifold has a massive crack on the bottom side of it where the wastgate bolts up and under the T3 flange like 3" long. I have thought I heard a little exhaust leak in the past around my wastegate and I would always snug the bolts up, I guess this could have been cause.

I just cant catch a break. I thought the cracking issues were over with going to this atp mani from the gtrs atp mani, guess not.

TIme to upgrade to the SPA manifold...would that affect the plumbing of your exhaust though?

Im gonna send the piece of shit back and tell them to give me a new one.

And yes I would assume that any other manifold would not allow the downpipe to line up.

Got the head off a guy on Vortex.

David, I suggest you leave the car as it is for a month or so.
when you try to work on the car with no motivation you will most likely to screw up. It happened with me a few times, ran out of patient really quick(no motivation but wanted to get her done) and I had to buy things that I didn't need to.
Your sh*tty luck will be over after this year ends( i highly hope so).

    that AEB head looks beautiful.

Re: Lets try this again. New AEB head.

More bad news, I just realized I didn't buy the mani from ATP but from someone else used so they aren't gonna warranty it probably, gonna have to figure something out later to get it warrantied. I just thought about this as I was calling them I don't know what to do now. Should I waste the money on the same manifold again or get something else. But if I get something else then I am almost positive my exhaust wont line up along with my wastegate return to the exhaust and I will have to do a different intake setup probably and then with the spa manifold I think I need a different type of return for oil from what I remember with people having trouble with it.

David, if I were you I would just get the SPA manifold now so it's done right. It might be a pain now to change your setup but there's no telling how long a new ATP manifold will last.

Damn I totally forgot about the hotside piping of the intercooler as well as wastegate rerurn, and oil lines.....damn.

FOR NOW I would stick with getting another ATP manifold....but then again, that is essentially $350 out the door.....

Re: Lets try this again. New AEB head.

The problem is this is my only mode of transportation since I dont have my motorcycle anymore. It isnt so bad since I am not working right now and neither is a roommate of mine so I can use his truck if I need to go somewhere, but I just recently started going to job interviews and have more coming up next week so I need my damn car back running pronto, especially if I get one of these jobs.

I was thinking irrationally and almost just bought a full race manifold, full race downpipe and 44mm wastegate from DTHAUS and was gonna say screw it and put it on my credit card but there aren't any manifolds available for 2 weeks so I cant do that. I am gonna just get another ATP for the time being atleast, maybe I will switch it out down the road.

IIRC that guy Jay, who makes manifolds, has a log manifold that is the same dimensions mounting wise that would bolt right in your current setup. May be another option to look at.

this is what I am slowly but surely realizing. When you try and save money by getting a lesser part you pay the price in the end.

What an eliminator? The gtrs is nowhere to be found. Just look in my sig and you would know what I have been running.

Or I can help you out, 2 liter, AEB head, high rev, schrick cams, gt3076r. Not sure what you mean about cutting corners.......

I havent heard of people having problems with the ATP manifold except for Greg when he had a T25 flanged mani with the smaller studs and he said studs would break. But never heard of problems with the T3 ATP mani.
