Re: Got the new brakes in and on.

They are s4 calipers whith the ecs light weight rotors using hawk pads.

and in the back they are zink coated rotors with stock s*** pads

the reason i did so was becuase there was no reason to have an aggresive pad on the back rotors.

the rears cam from ecs and they are diffrent from the front becuase ecs doesn't make a light weight rear rotor. and the rear pads are pbr.

Re: Got the new brakes in and on.

there is a big diffrence in quality between the front and the rear but you payfor that in the price.
    front light weight rotors=$680
    rear rotors =$140
    front pads =$130
    rearpads =$40

but when it comes time to replace the fronts i only have to buy the rotor ring for about $200 for the set and use the same hat's.

Re: Got the new brakes in and on.

i saved about 14 pounds on the rotors as apposed to the stock ones.
and i figured i would post this chart for you guys to see how much it helps.

    Static vs. Rotating Weight

Here's a very interesting comparison between static and rotating weight.
I got it from the Herb Adams Chassis Book, which you all should have.
There is some excellent info in this book.

    Baseline Car Weight Less 15lbs
    112.95mph

Weight Less 15lbs @ Axle Speed
    113.34mph

    Less 15lbs @ Engine Speed
    115.70mph

I wish we could do a stop distance comparison between yours and mine. I found mine here on AZ. (craigslist is down but still has the info)

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=248325

Of course the calipers were not new-40k, and the rotors and pads had almost no wear at all (guy said about 750miles and it looks about right).

I was not only going for stoping power i was also going for weight. and for light weight things you pay good money.

you should not run mismatched pads. braking at the limit your car can lose control very easily.

hawk makes upgraded pads for the rear of the A4.

The internal vanes of the rotor determines the direction that it is installed, not the slots or holes. I found this out a few years ago when I wasn't sure myself.

i track my car alot and one thing i now for a fact is that the back brakes count almost for nothing so i dont need the back pads to bite and eat away the rotor becuse it will be just a wast of money and i will need new rotors after 1 year as apposed to maybe two the way i have it set up.
