    Audio Gurus,.. need help!

Ok I have 2 kicker CVX's dual voice coils each four ohm. I also have a memphis 1000.1 amp. It puts out 1000 watts at 1 ohm. I had it wired funky, I'm not sure if it was at 4 or 2 ohms. But I was just trying to wire it at 1 ohm and followed this wiring diagram
    http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftec...2&woofer_imp=4
It sound horrible. I cant tell if it is louder but it does not rattle my eardrums anymore and it does not have nearly as much bass as it did. I'm very disappointed. I'm pretty certain that I wired it right, but I could be wrong. It sounds like the subs are rattling if that makes sense. I know a lot about audio but I don't know what's going on. I tried changing the polarity and that didn't make it any better. At low volumes it is decent but as soon as you turn it up all you hear is loud vibration, but they are not coming from the car. Or atleast that's what it sounds like. There is no deep bass at high volumes. What's my problem?
Sorry If i blabbered on and repeated myself but it's hard to explain/describe.
    Thanks

Disconnect all wires and listen to each sub independently.

That's kind of hard since all the wires are hidden in the box and there is only a single speaker line out, positive and negative, and it connects both subs

Might be a good idea to do. You can double check your wiring, listen to each sub independently, and maybe see if the "vibration" is coming from loose wires hitting the cone.

I too have 2 12" kicker cvx DVC 4ohm in my other car. you should wire them both in a parallel which would have the load at 1 ohm. if your amp is 1 ohm stable that is the best way to run it. if not look into a 1 ohm stable amp.

When you wire it at 1 ohm the bass is still as "deep" as 4 ohms right?

Wiring it at 4 ohm will give you 25% of the power of it at 1 ohm. The wiring configuration has no effect on the sound other then volume.

Definitely pull them out of the box.
Chances are you have a Grounding issue. One of your VC are grounding where it shouldn't be.

Better stop playing that music right away. Pull it out of the enclosure and check your VC wiring. Otherwise, you could end up FUSING the Motor Mechanism SOLID SHUT.

amp is at 1ohm resistance, and you have two subs running at either 2 or 4 ohms. whether or not they are wired in series or parallel could make a big difference, but straight off the bat i can tell you that you are running into massive power loss going from 1ohm to a dual 2/4 ohm setup. if im correct, just going from 1ohm to a 2ohm sub you lose half the power. correct me if im wrong

def check your grounds..they will do some wild things to sound systems. last time my subs rattled, they were blown but that is probably not the case for u. like stated above, check all ur connections, i would pull the wiring for one sub and run one with the proper +- and see how it sounds.also check the gain on the amp, u may be over powering them but again that probably is not the issue.. .good luck

Sounds like you've got them wired out of phase...

As said above, pull them out, and check the wiring individually...and listen to them individually...

Yes - do check to see if both woofs are in phase. Disconnect your woofs from the the amp and try connecting/disconnecting a D-cell battery across the woofers. You will hear a click. If you can see the cone, you will notice that it moves out (or in) slightly when the battery is attached, then moves back to 'normal' rest position when the battery is disconnected. If the drivers are in phase, the cones will both move in/out together. If one cone moves in while the other moves out, they are out of phase. If this is the case, one woof is cancelling the sound produced by the other. You know this is not good!
