Car was completely stock when i got it.

Car needs a thermostat.
Doesn't overheat.
Mechanic says its stuck closed
and not letting coolant flow to heatercore
Hence the heat not working.

With the RS4 wheels I would say ask 9 and take 8500
With the stockers I would ask 8500 and take 8

No offense, but do we have to have a thread like these everyday from someone different? Look up the market of similar cars in your area or anywhere else and set the price around what others are going for. Not trying to be an asshole, im just saying a little research in classifieds on forums/autotrader(magazine and interent), Ebay, Craigstlist to name a few could probly give you an idea.

Don't discount the fact that it needs a new t-stat, which is gonna be some serious money at a shop..might as well do another timing belt. Not overheating might be attributed to the cold temps right now, but if it's truly stuck closed, take that into consideration for your asking price. What about the badge? Has any body work been done to the car?

Are you sure you need a T-Stat? Have you tried back flushing the heater core? We had a 2002 VW Passat, same issue, no heat. We back flushed the heater core and we were getting 100+ degrees out the vents (based on a laser heat gun). I just find it hard to believe that the T-Stat is stuck closed and you're experiencing nothing other than loss of heat.

i honestly don;t know. maybe it is the heatercore, car wasn't overheating when it was warm out. i drove the car 6 hours from jersey to vermont and it didn't over heat that was last weekend. i just wanna get out of the car

dont expect your tstat to fix ur heat...i had no heat at all and my car was running cold when going for a drive in the highway. So i did a tstat and that fixed my water temps but did not fix my heat totally. I have heat only when im driving. at idle the heat gets cooler. Still trying to figure this out. My next step is to flush the heater core

As far as I know, the T-Stat has a safety feature in which it gets stuck, it gets stuck open not closed.

Very good point. Many of the 150k cars on the boards are probably stage 3, certainly not stage 0! This leads me to believe that the car has not had many parts replaced in the recent future and will fail quite soon. Anybody with common sense can derive that.

If you really need to dump it, put it on the boards for $5k, you'll sell it tomorrow.

stock is probably better then buying one that was modified performance wise. if a car has its oil changes when needed and wasn't beat these cars cango over 200k with stock turbos. once you chip and start modifying them is when the turbos have to work harder. i would take 7500 for it. its a pretty nice car for having this many miles on it. and the stage 3 ones with this many miles are going for over 11k. you can buy this and put ko4s in it for about ten.

and i guess you didn't read the recent maintnence list. everything but the turbos have been replaced. turbos still spool perfectly and aren't leaking any oil.
