    "cd Error Service"

I just performed an upgrade from the original Symphony II to a Symphony II+ on my B7 A4. I used the adapters from europarts.

Everything seems to function fine, except the CD which displays "CD ERROR SERVICE." I cannot insert a CD because it seems there is something blocking it just behind the felt flaps on the CD slot entry. A few questions:

    1) How would you tell if the unit was put into "transport mode" for shipping?

    2) Does anything have to be done to take the unit off "transport mode"?

    3) Any ideas on what the problem is? Is some type of VAG re-coding requried? I've seen references for other units where Channel 099 is for transport mode.

    Thanks for any input.

I'm getting the dealership to check it out tomorrow actually. Based on the info I've been able to find, it seems the CD mechanism is somewhat sensitive on this design and two common events can cause the CD mechanism to become non-functiona and throw the error messagel:

    1) burnt CD's with "rough edges" can get jammed
    2) failure to put the unit into "transport mode" and the unit gets rattled diring shipping

Regardless, the unit needs to be replaced. Apparently, only Blaupunkt (the manufacturer of the II+ unit) performs repairs and it ain't gonna be cheap! Hopefully they'll swap it under warranty even though the unit was was not original to my car.

Thumbs up Re: "cd Error Service"

so here is a solution to that problem ( at least in my case):
I've installed S2+ today in my B7 ( well almost because I still don't know how to connect and activate AUX-IN in that unit)
but after connecting quadlock and unlocking unit from safe mode only thing that worked was fm radio. In CD mode display showed CD ERROR - SERVICE.
so I've decided to look inside the unit. Here's how it looks:

part number one was stuck on part no2, blocking the laser part to move ( maybe that's the transport mode protection), anyway all I did was simply took part1 off part2:

close lid and reconnect everything once again.
there was a lot of weird sound but I'm guessing HU was checking every slot for CD presence.
    NOW CD WORKS GREAT..
the only thing left is to figure out how to add that damn AUX-IN connector. Cable is already installed inside the glovebox, but how to connect it with HU?
    here is the thread:

Thanks remo for this walk through of yours.

I was having thus problem as well and I solved it by opening up the top and reseating the CDs that the seller left in there.
