Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Once I step on the gas everything is fine until I come to a complete stop, then my idle is real rough, and just today I started to sense a little shaking only at idle. No CEL light or anything......YET!!

    Anyone know what it is??

The rule of thumb with coppers is to do it with your oil changes - I do mines every 5,000 miles.

check your coil packs two. it you pull one up at a time while thecar is running you will here a pop which is the current arhing to the spark plug. nopop=bad coil pack.

^ alright cool. How often are coil packs supposed to be changed? And are you supposed to change out coil packs only when they go out, or can you change them when you want? Also, I want to get a couple of them and keep them in my trunk just in case, what kind should I buy and where should I buy them from??

Sorry for all the questions....im a nooooob!!!

    Re: Rough idle + shaking....help

well it is a catch 22 becuase if one goes out the others will sometimes die out shortly after that or they can last another 10,000 miles.

one problem i ran into was i just replaced the one dead one but the other three where not giving enough power at higher rpms so the motor was sputtering while driving yet at idle it was fine.

i recomend that if one is bad buy all four after all it is only $100 and you will eliminate one more thing that you would have to worry about.

also i always have a spare on hand in the car in case i am far and dont feel like being stuck.

Could be a vacuum leak as well.

You're only in vacuum when you come to a stop.

    Re: Rough idle + shaking....help

I am currently going through the same thing, and found out after replacing my coil pack that it was the suction jet valve causing a vacuum leak. I suggest checking that first. It's easy. toward the back of your engine compartment and a little to the right you will see a cluster f@#k of hoses and check valves, listen to see if you can hear any thing sucking air.
