location of Alternator power wire

got my motor back in the car and cant remember where the large gauge power wire off the alternator hooks back to. on my older VW's it went to the battery but this wire is to short. little help. . . cars a 1998 1.8t

are you talking about the battery lead?

well turns out it went back to the starter, didnt think it was long enouf in length but it was
