What to do for heated seats?

My b7 pretty much has all options including factory MMI nav but no heated seats.

What do I need? Center climate unit and new front seats?

    Thanks

Yep. Be prepared though, climate control is like $500, plus the seat cost.

Re: What to do for heated seats?

    Thanks.

So my car should have the factory plug under the seat for the heated seats already though right?

The centre climate control is usually $100-150 used and seats.....well I want the S4 Recaros so that would be around $1000 or so.

Not bad for me because I get better seats and heat!

Yeah the car has the plug in under the seat; you might need a fuse or two but all the conenctions are there. But you're dreaming if you think you're going to get Recaros for $1000. Like twice that, if not more

Anyone who lives in the southern half of the country who thinks they need heated seats should be shot. Unless you live in the mountains (Flagstaff, AZ for expample) heated seats are completely unnecessary.

Take some hand warmers, activate them, stick them in a garbage bag and sit on that.

Re: What to do for heated seats?

I'll take your center console off your hands later down the road for a few bucks when I get racing seats. I don't want to have the seat controls with no heated seats. So hold onto it unless somebody else wants to buy it.

Honestly, I had them and they were never all that great. By the time they really warmed up the car was warm, and that was nearly 10min. It did help with the leather but I was kind of surprised how ineffective they really are - I don't have a big @ss to warm up either ;)

I'd just get aftermarkets if you are going through the trouble of R&R of the seat covers.

I am surprised, my heated seats work great. This week we had a -20 c, below 0 F and boy did I enjoy them. They got warmer mutch faster then the car did.

Re: What to do for heated seats?

Yea, not sure what it was but it took at least 4-5min to even feel something warm when it was colder (10s-20) and within another 5min of that (10min total) the car was fully warm. The seats would get pretty hot on 6 after close to 10-15min. Faster than the car for sure but in the end it was only a few min.

FWIW I didn't ever warm up the car (unless I had to brush snow off). Just get in and go.

Now with the GTI I have cloth seats but the 2.0t still takes 10min to warm up
