Axles wont fit!? Need help ASAP please

trying to put new axles in, bought them for a 2001 audi a4 1.8T with a manual gearbox.

spindles don NOT slide in. they have a different amount of grooves. what am i doing wrong, according to the manuf. i have the RIGHT part #

ive heard the 2001 uprights are different. am i supposed to order s4 or 2.8 axles?? im lost because according to part #s i got the right thing buyt they are obviously not

i bought them at advanced auto. maybe a differnt part # then audis. be right back with that # 4 u

Well the Axels all have 2 part numbers pre 2001 and post 2001. The letters after the part number indicate side, quattro/non, and engine

You probably have <2001 axles.. 2001 has different/special axles due to the larger wheel bearing.

their part numbers are messed up. happened to me too. It has nothing to do with advanced, its the remanufacture's fault.

You probably have <2001 axles.. 2001 has different/special axles due to the larger wheel b
earing.

as usual Mike you are absolutely right. the little spindle that goes in the bearing is larger on my axle than the ones i got from advanced. i ended up having 2 reeturn them 2 advanced auto and will be getting some oem remans in the morning that a local mechanic buddy ortdered for me through the vin # so i know they will be right.

thanks for your help guys. it seems like these 01's have ALOT more differences from the previous years than i realized
