Anyone ever get this problem, my little handy scanner gave me
EVAP emissions control system purge flow fault. I have not hooked my vagcom yet, but I wanted to know if anyone has ever dealt with this code and what was the issue. I have searched but found nothing on the forum so far.
    Thanks

Judging by his avatar, i think he went a different route to fix it..haha, normally its the little purge valve right above the air box that goes bad..Cheap fix. Mine had that code, i cleared it and has not come back since. Seems like the cold weather plays tricks on my car.

WOW, Talk about going back in time, yes I too have falled victim to not posting the fix for future searches to benefit from.

The solution was as above the electric valve located at the back fo the airbox, it seemes to be a common fix for this code.

The issue was not my car but my wife's car, however the avatar I use is the pic of my car as I bought it initially (salvage title) with 18 K miles, now it looks alot different. Maybe I will post a thread about the rebuild since many seem to think that the car was recently totaled.

When the purge valve opens, the ecu expects to see so much flow...if it doesn't see that level of flow, it will throw a code. Here's the deal though, when that valve opens up physics says the gas tank will vent regardless...so there's nothing to worry about. There just isn't the level of vacuum required for the ecu to be happy.

So literally this is just the purge flow valve that needs replacing is what I think your saying.

See I threw two codes at the same time:

    -P0130, O2 sensor circuit Malfunction (B1, S1)

-P0441 EVAP ECS purge flow fault

I could've thrown one and then the other later it didnt show on screen till now, I cleared codes not just 2 months ago so it couldn't be that new. I cant find any info on the P0130 though, anyone heard of it?

The P0130 indicates a malfunction with the heating element in your primary (front) O2 sensor. If it keeps returning you will probably have to replace the sensor assuming the wiring to the sensor is good.

The P0441 indicates a possible problem with the N80 purge valve. The ECU monitors the engine RPM and expects to see ~ 80 RPM variation when activating the N80 evap purge valve. If it doesn't you will get the P0441. Before you replace it you can check the resistance of the N80 activation coil. You should see between 22 and 30 Ohms resistance across the two pins. If the resistance checks out I wouldn't worry about it for now. It is a known issue that cold weather can cause an erroneous P0441 code. In fact it is covered under the TSB 24 06 07 2010268/2. It involves re-flashing your ECU so if you are chipped you probably don't want to do this.
