Got busted for no front plate

Anyways this police officer had nothing to do at night and the only reason he decided to pull me over is because of my no front plate. I have a rieger bumper on my S4. Does anyone here have a DIY writeup of the magnet mod for an S4 with a rieger front? Thanks. Yeah it sucks.

Maybe nobody was speeding/running red lights the area he was patroling. Most of the time its backup thats coming over lol most of the time its not "chit chat"

If you've seen reports of the number of "ho-hum" stops that result in an officer getting maimed or killed, you'd understand why EVERY time they stop, they'll ask for backup.

GTFOI and be a standup adult. They don't make the rules, and few of us get busted for some shittylittledetail unless we did something to draw their attention.

They were not there when my car got side swiped in a parking lot (hit&run), they were not there when my rear right window got broken into, they were not there when my friend got run off the road in his GTI by a big lifted Dodge (on purpose which resulted in a fight later) they were not there when 2 close friends got into a serious wreck getting hit by a drunk driver (not there to pull the guy over for drunk driving before he cause damage), I could go on but i realize people dont want to read this useless post since TRANS4M already posted the info requested that i was going to post

i agree that cops are a good thing to a certain degree but honestly ive been bothered by cops all the time for nothing at all. i dont understand why they have to bust your balls for hanging out in a parking lot or something like that as long as we arent bothering anyone it shouldnt be a big deal. where i live cops are known for brutality and things like that so dont tell me all cops are good and being nice will always help because im nice and respectful whenever ive been confronted by a cop but it doesnt seem to help me at all. ok im done with my little rant i just had to let that out lol

Um. I used to live in SF and now live nearby. Pay the ticket and move on. Maybe I've been lucky, but many cops have seen me without a front plate and no ticket to date. There are tons of cars in SF with no front plate.

And regarding the quote above. Cops in SF get a bad rep because they are generally pricks. They're all in the nice areas handing out parking tickets to tourists. Go down to the ghetto and there are gangs hanging out on the street, just looking to cause $hit at the first opportunity. Sit at the back of a bus or look someone in the eye, and it'll be 5 seconds before you get the crap beaten out of you. Not a cop in sight in those areas.

Its really easy, sometimes cops have nothing else better to do. Where i live i can go by every cop, sheriff or chp officer in town with no front plate. But when i go to this certain spot for a drive in the mountains, I almost always get hassled by the same damn PARK RANGER for no front plate WTF. Everytime this happens im parked too, First time i met him first thing he says to me is thats a loud muffler you got there(no muffler). License, registration and proof of insurance. Im like WTF you kidding. So he gave me a illegal exhaust ticket, modified exhaust ticket(which is meant for highly modified cars and have to be refree'd) Which he didnt have the authority to do lol, no front plate and no insurance cause i didnt have my updated card on me. Talk about a waste of time. I could completely understand getting those tickets from a chp but a damn park ranger.
Then he got me again in the same place and hassled me for being there(when i wasnt the only one there) at sunset(when i just stopped to use the bathroom). Then he walks to the front of my car and says no front plate, and its a $60 fine for being here and its a $500 fine for being in the park after hours(And before this all happened i pull up and there is a older guy walking out of the park to his car as i go into the bathroom, then the ranger pulls up. Lets him go(has no front plate) and decides hes just going to hassle me. But didnt give me a ticket. I was treating him as nicely as i possibly could and it got me no where. It all depends if the cop your dealing with is a prick or not. I learned my lesson now i have a dmh cutout And i still dont have my front plate just paid the 25dollar non corrected fee and was done with it.

like someone else said, it's standard procedure for there to be two officers per stop, just incase the person they pulled over happens to be some crazy with a bunch of felonies he has warrants for. Or he decides he wants to get an attituide with a weapon.. ect.

I don't run a Front plate and I'll tell you what, I still won't when I get a ticket for it. I still live in a rural area so the cops usualy worry more about the ghetto projects and the like instead of some guy with a euro front plate or none at all.

You need to grow up pal. Cops cant predict shit like your window getting smashed in a parking lot etc... I'm in the process of becoming a police officer right now so i can easily see both sides. People don't get that cops are here to help not bust you for your car intentionally, so when they pull someone over for not having a front plate on a car like a built s4 then there is usually reasoning aside from the plate. Trust me we have much more important things to do other than write tickets for missing front plates. So try being more mature and respecting cops. After all, they are just here to help and keep people from doing stupid shit.

When you figure out how to get cops to become psychics or recruit enough to patrol every block.. let me know. Also, if you think cops have never pulled over drunk drivers, stopped a robbery/theft in progress, pulled over/arrested hit and run drivers, you're sadly mistaken. Next time you're in need of help, don't call for the Police, I'm sure you wouldn't want anything to be thankful for. Hell, you should go out and protest in your city/town to remove the police, they sure have never done anything good or worthy of thanks.

i am in agreement with this guy, it all depends on the cop, i know alot of cops in my town and you will realize that they dont care about alot of the small things like no front plate or w/e. most cops and some of the troopers that i know always tell me how they hate it when they are behind someone just driving along and the person is doing exactly the speed limit or even under they just want the person in front of them to speed up haha.
i have my plate in my front passanger side window and if a cop does pull you over or something, just be nice and tell him that the mount for it broke and you are waiting for your new one to get in.

There's a guy on the B6/B7 forum who uses industrial strength Velcro to attach his plate. Since Velcro comes in 20+ different colours, when the plate is off, you can barely see the strip that remains on when he removes the front plate.

Then again, there's also the Skidplate that [email protected] sells.

i would never put velcro on the outside of my car... get super high strength magnets and use a few on the inside of bumper and put a few on back of plate then put something soft over the magnets on back of plate... i saw a guy at a meet a few weeks ago that did that..works great he said

Saw that as well, very smart. He just used epoxy to keep the magnets attached to the bumper.
