So I got these things called E-Codes.. Now what do I do?

lol.. like the title says.. I got a pair of E-Codes (no idea if there Bi-xenon or not) but I need help installing.. I searched the az site (so dont even think about giving me rath for it because after 5 min of waiting for the search to load I gave up)....

My car looks like this right now... Clear cornered...

So I bought these because I wanted to do what [email protected] did, where the fogs are always on, and the stupid side ambers aren't on with the DRLs. These lights though are different than my OEM ones I have... Mine for one have a smaller Xenon lens (I think). Also they have a tiny little bulb at the bottom of the high beam (see pic below) and have an unknown wire (see pic below)...
Is there a DIY or someone that can explain to me how these work, or how the heck I install these??

first thing, ambers on the side will not go on, those are only turn signals. The small hole on the high beam side is your day time running lights (city lights). The harness you are seeing is for the ballast if im not correct. Do you have stock HIDs?

HIDs? ( no clue what your talking about lol)

I have DS1 bulbs and H7 bulbs according to my OEM lights... Light bulbs and ballasts have not been changed from OEM... Everything is stock there.

Re: So I got these things called E-Codes.. Now what do I do?

Your existing headlamps are HID from the factory. The E-Codes you bought are H7 low beam units. You will need to get a VVME HID kit if you want to retain your HIDs with those units. Also note that you will loose your Dynamic Beam Stabilization (the headlamp beam moving up and down when you start the car) since the H7 units do not have it.

If it was my car, I'd sell the H7 E-Codes and save up the money for some Bi-Xenon E-Codes which will allow you to transfer your DS1 bulbs, your ballasts and reatain your factory HID setup.
    A couple of Audi's later...

I could be wrong, but I think Audi has never used H7 low beam in the B6 platform. Furthermore, it looks like the harness the OP was trying to show us goes out to the 12-pin connector on a 5G ballast.

Re: So I got these things called E-Codes.. Now what do I do?

Audi uses the H7 in the low-beam position on the non-HID applications. My Vallejo E-Codes are H7 low beam/high beam. Upon closer inspection of the pics it looks like he does have the Bi-Xenon E-Code units.

To me, that looks like a set of single Xenon E-codes. I have a set of bi-xenon E-codes sitting right next to me, and the xenon lens is much bigger.

EDIT: I just figured out the City Lights and what holds the bulb. Silly me.

Dont be confused. You have a D1S bulb on those headlights. Autumn is correct that the harness you are showing goes to a 5G ballast. Let us know over the weekend.

Uh, why would you get rid of factory Xenon lights just to change your lighting configuration? You lose not only the Xenon lights, but the self-leveling. Doesn't make much sense to me.
