[Question] The best fuel for your beloved b7?!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm going to get a full tank of Shell V-Power later~

I still have a quater of other competitor's premium 91 octane left...
probably won't be a good idea to mix the two...
    or does it matter???

    How about you guys?

share your experiences with all of us up here!
and if this question has been asked before,
    I apologize!

and I really wanna know if it's fine to mix shell's v-power with other premiums...

please do share :) greatly appreciated!

doesn't matter if you mix the gas, just go below 91, but 93, 100 is ok =D

Re: [Question] The best fuel for your beloved b7?!!

just a heads up, all of the gas stations in your area get their gas from the same place. so shell v-power is the same gas as the sunoco and the bp and whatever else is in your area. the difference, is that each tanker is filled with their "brand specific" different detergents and additives prior to getting filled up at the regional fuel depot, which they will then deliver to the individual stations.

so shell v-power isn't exactly "better" gas than any of the other places.

one thing to note, is that some of the value brand or "no name" gas stations (including costco, sams club, and other grocery store stations) sometimes do not use detergents and fuel additives, so they can cause buildup.

also, if you have an FSI motor, it's direct injection, so while your injectors may get dirty over time, your valves won't get all dirty like in the commercials

Bloody hell - that makes for interesting reading........

Here in the UK all standard fuel is 95 RON, with premium fuels rating between 97 and 99 RON.

Incidentally - all fuels here, apart from Shell V POWER - are exactly the same base fuel with just different additives for the extra RON. As an example every different fuel brand in my area comes from exactly the same refinery - just in a different colored tanker!

As for Shell - they mix their V Power at a special plant separate to all the others.

I always used to use V Power Petrol, but having now changed my car I use their V Power Diesel
I've always said - "One day I'll be able to afford a BMW, and when that day comes I'm gonna buy an Audi"

Re: [Question] The best fuel for your beloved b7?!!

The fuel still touches the valves whether or not you have FSI, the fuel just doesn't directly flow through the valves..

    yeh tell me about it...
When I used to live in Taiwan... the lowest is 92...
    then it's 95, 97, 98, 99, and 100 in some places...
    similar in japan...

well... cuz in north america... we still got much more fresh air to pollute :)

    Best gas?

    104 octane unleaded.

If you want some come down to the shop!

But I prefer Chevron 94 octane for pump gas and its still craptastic for what it is.
