    Dealership makes wrong right

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

I flamed out on McKenna in LA over my used car purchase and I just wanted to let everyone know how an e-mail to the owner (Danny McKenna) fixed the wrong real quick. I was missing an extra key and floor mats in my 06 purchase. I have been fighting for almost 3 weeks now trying to get them to deliver on there promise of providing me with an additional key. After getting nowhere with sales managers etc. etc. I woke up this morning and went to their homepage to see who was listed under contacts. Sure enough, the owner was. I put together a professional but firm message hoping to get some sort of response. Within an hour I had the GM calling me. He apologized profusely and promised to make right all of the wrong. At the time of purchase, my douche bag salesman said I had to pick between replaced floor mats or an additional key. Obviously I wanted the key since that was more costly. Well when I talked to the GM this morning, I said I wanted my key and the mats I would consider a loss. He said that was not the case and he was ordering me new floor mats and an additional key.

It's amazing what a little expression of frustration can get you!

My flame on McKenna has been extinguished!

wow maybe I should have hit you up. I think I just got pwnded by the wrong salesmen. I am usually quite good at shying away from the vultures jedi mind tricks, but man I wanted the car so bad. I have everything in the color, trim level I wanted. The only con's were the lack of a spare key and floor mats. But those two cons are fixed so, WIN WIN FOR ME!

    Re: Dealership makes wrong right

It's really amazing how terrible customer service usually is at dealerships. I mean, think about it... Behind purchasing a house, purchasing a car is the second most expensive thing the majority of people will purchase in their life. You would think that owners of dealerships would instill in their employee's heads how important a good experience is for the customer to help ensure that they return to them. I work for a company that conducts secret shops and I'm in charge of the account we have with Harley-Davidson. You would be amazed at some of the experiences that our secret shoppers have at the dealerships. Sorry, I just had to do some ranting...

luckily there's two dealerships in vegas, but when i got the car the other one wasn't there yet. So now everybody is going to the new one even though they're smaller they're way nicer and actually seem like they passed the training they went through to work there lol

    Re: Dealership makes wrong right

When I got my car from the Acura dealer on Maui, I was told that the key they gave me was the only one they had, since that's what they were given. The next week, I went to order a new key from the Audi dealer. The key came in a week or so later. I went to pick it up and that was the first that they told me that I'd have to schedule and pay to have everything reprogrammed. I get that taken care of a couple of weeks later. Then, the same day, my friend's wife calls to tell me that they found the keys for my car at the Acura dealer, every single one, still on the plastic loop. So I have three cut keys and two that are programmed, as well as the plastic and vallet keys. :( I'm glad I got a great deal on the car, or I would have been far more upset.

I'm going through a similar experience dealing with my wife's CPO Beetle and a cracked rim that was never discovered. The letters went out yesterday, but out to the corporate office as well as the dealership. My A4 is a recent purchase and it definitely wasn't from the same dealer . . .

    Re: Dealership makes wrong right

It's amazing how shitty customer service practices have become. I tell you what, in today's economy being the way it is, you would think that dealerships would be jumping through hoops for your business, not the other way around. In my case, my vehicle was turned in from a lease with only one key. Kind of makes me laugh considering when I purchased my a4 I was turning in my 06 lease and I had all of the keys.... oh and the floor mats as well. From what I can see, it's a case of dealership trying to get away with as little as possible!

I know what you're talking about in terms of the 2nd most expensive thing. I also sell cars, but at a "non-negotiating dealership" so I am not that typical sales person. Here we are not paid on "commission" which shys away all the B/S. When you sell cars daily you kind of over-think that the customer only buys a new car every 3-4 years. I try to stay in the mindset that if I was in the customer's shoes I want to feel like the car buying experience is the world and that it is the second most expensive, important thing I am buying. Too many sales people just overlook it cause when you do it daily you just don't see it that way.

Complaining in a professional manner to the right people can get you great results. I just ask for the manager all the time, I hate dealing with go getters.

Exactly. The consumer also needs to show some respect as well. Some of you might be familiar with my third gear synchro problem and how my dealership voided my warranty and would not replace the problems due to me having an intake and diverter valve. After going through multiple steps and talking to many people keeping it professional the whole time, I was still denied the work. I then wrote a letter along with the help of cgmiller (thanks again) to a few executives at Audi. I received a call last week that they are looking into the issue and have a team of engineers and warranty people evaluating the situation. The other day I received a call stating that they have not completed the evaluation but at this time it looks like they are going to fix the problem under warranty. I should be receiving the final word in the next few days (hopefully I didn't jinx myself).

But yes, staying professional and speaking to the right people seems to have worked in my case as well.

good luck with that, hopefully they can figure out the intake and the dv has nothing to do with the transmission.

haha the only reason I said that was because you said there is no selling tactics involved, and carmax doesn't change prices. They just sell at the sticker and only the sticker

I purchased my car at Circle Imports in Long Beach, CA. The salesman told me because I was buying a CPO they had to give me 4 keys (2 regular, 1 valet, 1 plastic key) as well as all the floor mats.
