04 and 05.5 S4 Difference/

Aside from the obvious body and interior changes what is the major difference on the 2004 and 2005.5 + S4's?

Looking to pick up a new to me S4.

Any tips on what to be aware of, look out for?

Any performance gain for choosing the later. I am looking to spend $25-$30k on a S4.

Goal is to have a nice daily driver with a little pep and performance for the occasional "long way home" drive.

Past cars was 98 1.8T With loads of mods (Loved this car and wish I still owned this one)
2005 350Z few mods, (didnt fall in love with this, fun to drive, nice sounding car in stock form but too many on the road and not a great daily driver)

No real mechanical changes from 05 to 05.5. I think the exhaust is slightly different, but it's mostly interior and exterior aesthetics. For 06, the differential was updated with a 40F:60R power distribution (vs 50:50)... I think.

Get whichever one you like the styling of more. In the Bay Area, at least, there are much better deals on B6 models (~$23-26K asking price). I got lucky and scored a good deal on an 05.5. I like the B7 styling WAY more, so it was worth it for me to spend a little more for the newer body.

...and way better NAV system. Night and day.

of course the major differences are the looks, and for that you'll have to decide for yourself.

the cars are very similar otherwise unless you're a car maniac, you won't notice a ton of differences.

B6+B7 FTW!

Great thanks Guys. I think I like the look of the B7 more so it may be worth it to be patient and find the right one or save a little more dough to get what I want.. it is not like they are going up in value or anything...

I may try to find a couple local that I can get up close and personal with to see how they compare.
