Ok i did a quick search on this and cant seem to find anyone running this size or info on it.
My buddies on his way to pick up a set of snow tires that were in the classifieds off an a8 but wanted to know if the 55 sidewall is going to be too tall for a b5.
I know ideally most people including myself run a 45 sidewall.
    Thanks guys

Way too tall. Like an inch a sidewall...

225 is quite wide for a winter tire too. I went down a size from stock 205's to 195's I dunno how thin they make for 17's though....

That would be true if i didn't purposely take my car out when it snows.
They have also gotten me home from work in crazy amounts of snow where i wouldn't have gone anywhere with all seasons. Trips to VT for snowboarding gets good use out of the snow tires also.

i run 235/45/17 Blizzaks w/ 8mm spacers....but thats b/c i got a heck of a deal on the tires. 55 is wayyy too tall. The winter tread on the Blizzaks make it as tall as a 50 (i think).

VT trips hmmm grab a sport winter to compromise but gain over a all season? I got rid of my snows and run all seasons now that I'm back in Pa, I rn Blizzak and Winterforce when in Tahoe. IMO snows are not worth it unless driving in snow daily, which you won't. I regreted running snows in Pa for the year I did, just my .02 and opinion. I wouldn't run a non winter sport snow in the width and height of your option myself either.

m3 winter sports I had were great in snow and great on highway. not loud at all.

I didn't run snow tires when I lived in Tahoe and was fine
