I also have the 815.. when you say res delete do you mean you removed the stock resonator? Or is there something else I don't know about that you can do? I'd like to make mine a little quieter if possible.

Exactly. Whether or not you are welding it on yourself or not, YOU decide where the muffler should sit. I have never been to an exhaust shop that would have it sticking out.

Maybe it's just my area, but that is one of the ONLY things I will take my car to a shop for, having a muffler welded on.

I am getting the 14816. Sounds great IMO.

I have a 14830 on my 2.8 12v. Looks great but the sound is kinda hollow...and it's a little noisy when on the throttle at around 2700 rpm. I'm going to have to figure out how to mellow out the sound.

I went 14815 on my 1.8tqm straight from the downpipe. Too loud and droney in my opinion. Cruising at highway speeds sucks, sounds stupid. Resonator is on its way. But if you like it stupid loud, 14815 with straight pipes for the win!!!!!

Lol thanks, One of them actually just died. I guess turtles cannot digest Lobster. Who woulda known

Thats a Magnaflow res. The exhaust has really broken in since then. After "Spirited" driving on decel she cracks and pops and she has a deeper idle growl.

I assure anyone considering my setup to go ahead and do it. You will not be disappointed. If you dont think its loud enough you have no business driving an Audi

I had what I thought was a Magnaflow res but it just made it much louder and when I had the OEM res put back in it quieted down a lot but it's still a little louder than I'd like. The one I had was the 14415 straight through but it didn't help the sound at all. Do you know what model you have?

Actually I have no idea. The exhaust shop did new 2.25 piping, all new mounting rubbers/ seals, and the res for $165 welded and mounted. I supplied the 14815.

They even high temp painted it for me.

    Re: anyone with a magnaflow??

Do you happen to know how long it was? I'm trying to find one that is an actual resonator and not a muffler like I think the 14415 is that I already had on and taken off the next day lol.

    10415
    10425

As you can see the 10425 actually says in the description that is can be used in conjunction with another muffler to reduce sound. I just don't see what is so different with that compared to the one I had that looked pretty much identical.

    14415

    Thanks for the info.

i have a 1.8t with 2.5" straight pipe from the flex pipe to the magnaflow muffler as well, and yeah its too loud, especially on the highway cruising for a while...

    get one of these!

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=

only $21 shipped...not too bad (just a glasspack so it should cut cabin noise pretty good but keep a deep, but more mellow sound out the back)

mine is scheduled for delivery for tomorrow... so i will let you know how it sounds

^The exhaust shop actually told me that those mufflers would hae the fiber glass packing blown out of them within 5,000 miles and be loud as hell. The magnaflows are packed with some sort of lava rock packing which is why they are said to never be blown out.
