If anyone can help figure out this dreaded red warning light and why it intermittently comes on and off that would be a big help. My local dealership has seen my car 3 times this week diagnosing this issue, the first time I brought it in they found that the oil pressure sensor to be faulty after running a diagnostic test and compression check. The part was replaced ($45) with labour ($119 / hr). I am out of warranty (4 years or 80,000kms), so I had to pay for that up front.
The light still came on so I brought it back a second time, and demanded that I get refunded at least partially for the original work since they didn't solve the problem. This second time around the service manager decided that all work would be covered under a "good will" warranty, so all subsequent work / parts related to the oil pressure warning would be at no cost to me. At this point the work involved was this:
Cause: Pressured test system. Found after running oil pressure started to drop below spec. Removed valve cover. Inspected all bearing caps for cams. All OK.
Correction: Performed oil sludge TSB. Replaced all necess. hoses & parts. Rechecked oil pressure & roadtested vehicle OK.

After they performed all this work the car ran fine until I was getting ready to go home from the gym and two of my coil packs failed and I had to get the car towed to the dealership late at night last Friday. I ended up replacing all 4 coil packs to be safe, at this point I'm cussing out all sorts of swear words.
Now, the oil pressure light STILL comes on intermittently. What is the deal? I am going to phone the dealership tomorrow and let them know what's up, but has anyone experienced this or know the cause of this dreaded oil pressure light? FYI - the weather here has been quite cold lately, about -5c to -10c.
