I guess it goes without saying that is a huge improvement over stock.

not bad. thats only about 300 chp. You should be able to squeeze another 20-30 whp out of that set up. cool guys at asp. i was at their shop on saturday.

Not to shabby. I was there on Saturday as well with Poopie, can't wait to see what 30psi does on their rollers on the 20th:) I agree with Poops you can squeeze another 20-30 out of it no doubt.

yeah i def agree we could get some more out of it, Mark did say he kept it very conservative. I have to go back soon to get some stuff worked out and we may be doing the race gas tune.

    What he said.

Those are decent numbers though, 4500rpm+ that's all "bye bye K04" territory.

I'd be happy with those numbers. What fuel? W/M inj?

I expected more out of a GT28RS to be honest. Guess I'll have to lower my expectations for what I am going to put to the ground with my GT28 setup.

Yeah i was expecting a little more at first also but after i looked around it seems to be pretty decent on a mustang dyno. It is a ton of fun on the street though and has kept me satisfied so far.

    What did you expect?

This seems to be a very conservative tune as mentioned before. A gt28rs shouldn't have any problems with around 280awhp on pump, though that varies from dyno to dyno. I remember someone on here with 300awhp on their gt28rs set up.

280 awhp is what I was expecting from a fairly conservative tune... hoping for 300 awhp but I would use the aid of methanol to attain that.

NJ sucks doesn't it? I know the HFC isn't near as restrictive as the stocker, but I'll bet you would notice the spool and power difference without it.

You should be able to run higher boost as well, octane dependent though.

yeah the asp HFC is also 2.5" so i figure a 3" set up would definitely help but i don't think ill be changing it anytime soon.

The stock runs were also with an atp 3" TP, the apr exhaust, and evo MS intake but the stock ecu, maf, inj etc.. Stock a4s are crazy slow

The lines on that graph is really dim, I can't make it out very well. Looks smooth though, and you doubled what you had so far.

It's amazing what the difference between a modded but no software car puts down and one with software and equal mods. 30-60+whp gains on the K03/s.

What's even more sad is that you 118whp ~ 151chp(figuring quattro loss), vs stock 150hp.
Another $350-600 and you could have had software and a DV. Honestly though, I think you made the right choice.

I had stage 1 software and a Baileys DV before this and they dynoed it at only 145whp or something like that at 17psi.

why? a chip brings you to a claimed ~200chp, which comes out to 156awhp with 22% DT loss. That seems about right.

I guess I wasn't thinking about claimed Stg1 software chp. I was going off my 1/4mi times and (flame suit ready) G-Tech readings.

I guess I shouldn't expect much out of a K03, nobody else does.

I'd like to think I'm in the neighborhood of 165-175whp. His mods weren't far off from where mine are now, maybe I should just find an AWD dyno around here.

Oh well, you're past that now.

Just found this via-search... can the engine handle the ~280awhp of a gt28rs on stock rods? I always thought that with the quick spool it was pretty much a requirement to at least replace the rods.

I have the gt2871r with the .86 exhaust housing. My motor is completely stock internals. I run up to 22 psi with no problems. Check out my build thread in the "projects" sub-forum. I have had the GT2871r on my car for 10,000 mi. so far.

i have a bent rod out of my old stock aeb. I was running 23-24 psi daily. Dynoed at 315whp. I recently discovered the rod was bent when I was cleaning up the garage and found them in a box. I was gonna clean them up and make a cool night stand or something out of it. Its bent just slightly. I don't think I could pick up the bend in a pic though. I would recommend scat rods if you are gonna go beyond 300whp. Sure, you could get away with out them, but seeing the bent rod makes me happy i threw in scat rods when I did the gt3071r upgrade on my old sedan.

I read on Audiforum that you can run a GT2871r if you stay with the t25 flange. A T3 flange and you will need to do rods because of the faster spooling, as you already mentioned. But at that point, you are pushing the limit of the rods anyways at ~400chp so why not just get the T3 GT2871r and drive that thing for what it was purchased for in the first place. A GT28rs is fine on stock internals and moderate boost levels, unless you are the type to beat on your car as if it came from the planet Krypton. I think it is sean1.8t whom has a GT28rs and he said his car likes to take a beating. But he also said he does intensive logging.

lol only because we want to make power, any Elim kit is at the edge of the stock motor on race gas, a 2871R is fine but don't crank the boost too high

I'm running a GT3071r with a T25 flange and I'm only pushing about 17psi....spools up fairly quickly....its definitely do-able to fun a BT/BAT on a stock bottom end, but a bigger turbo isn't REALLY that fun unless ur pushin 22+ psi.......hopefully I'll get there some day
