So my car got horribly abused this weekend, while parked, nonetheless.
Civic 1, Audi 0

Ill get pictures later but this girl missed the driveway and backed right into my car.. My driverside fender is crumpled, i had to pull it up so it wasnt cutting my tire to drive home. My bumper is pulled out and the clips are all broken, plus all of the paint/physical damage. Lastly, my headlight is all cracked.

Luckily her insurance is paying for everything..
I found it rather funny when she said, so how much could it possibly be, like 6-700? I laughed and said my headlight was prob more than that

Therefore im trying to make the best of the situation. I think im going to upgrade to the dtm bumper, simply because the sline is so common these days. However, I would like to keep my rs4 grill if possible. Does anyone have the link to the person who did it? My bodyshop guy said he is more than willing to take on the job.

Also any idea on dealer costs for these parts? From the dtm bumper/splitter to the new headlight? Or any other ideas are welcome..

Sorry to hear about that, I'm in a similar boat as well and that's why I have most of your answers.

1. Jstahmann- is the guy who did the rs4 grille on his DTM bumper. Basically he cut and glued but the end result was great.
2. The price for the bumper + splitter from the dealer is about 1300 plus the paint job. And a new headlight will be around 700-800 I think.

how you get reimbursed will usually depend on how the other person's insurance company handles collision damages.

generally, you speak with the other person's insurance company, and they will point you to a body shop or an insurance adjuster office that is near your location.

the adjuster will then determine how much it will cost for all of the damages, plus the cost of labor to replace them, and give you an estimate. at this point, they can either point you to their preferred shop that will honor their estimate, or they will just write you a check. If they write you a check, you can choose to do whatever you want with the money.

before getting it adjusted, you should try and find out every single thing that's damaged with your car and make sure to do the walkaround with the the adjuster. insurance adjusters are usually pretty good, but not perfect. they may forget about these tiny little clips, body panels, whatever. if they forget, and you accept the check, and your bodyshop tells you that there's some other stuff that wasn't caught, you're pretty much screwed unless it's a really major thing they missed. however, keep in mind, that some of these small clips, and parts can add up quickly. if you went to their shop shop of choice, any added costs that weren't originally found by the adjuster will still be covered, including added labor costs.

also, do NOT let them try to replace your parts with generic/oem-spec parts. make sure they get genuine parts. if they argue, call up your insurance company, and let them argue over it.

Sorry to hear that, but at least it wasn't a hit and run or anything else like that. As an FYI, you should replace the bulbs on the other headlamp as well, as they do dim over time, and it'll be apparent when compared to new bulbs. Good luck

Those are replica bumpers made of cheapened fiberglass, not a fan. I actually called them about it and they discount it even more once you say your interested. I say OEM or bust when it comes to DTM.

you got some bad luck with your rid....some collision persons are really cool...my bro got a check for replacing a whole bunch of stuff..the guy was able to fix the car for cheaper and he got a check for about 1400 to his pocket out of the deal.

An RS4 grill in a DTM bumper can be made by cutting the 2 just under the licence plate holder and fitting one on the other. Its only the below the plate holder that the 2 are different. A decent body guy should be able to it without a problem.

Interested to see the outcome, DTM's never came in red and I dont recall seeing a red DTM bumper before.
