Thinking of buying a B7 A4, evaluate this deal-

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, new to Audizine and Audi's in general. Anyway, I was looking for some advice from the experts... I found this deal locally:
    http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...rUsedInventory

Is this a good price? Seems to me with the economy in the toilet and the new A4s arriving, dealers should be pretty anxious to get rid of B7s.

Ideally I would like an S-Line (for the looks) but those appear to be untouchable for under $20k. Is this right?

Also what's up with the financing? I've seen .9% mentioned in some places, and then others are talking about 5.9%. Is there a national offer, or does this vary at the dealer level?

    Thanks!

Re: Thinking of buying a B7 A4, evaluate this deal-

well, the car in the ad seems extremely well priced, and with such low mileage, it may still fall under the factory warranty period. but the deal seems almost too good to be true. i've seen similar cars sell for at least $24k.

i'd also be wary of any finance deals that look "too good to be true".

most places are still scared to lend money to buyers that can't afford it (people with moderate to low credit scores). most dealerships themselves are having issues with banks too, since a lot of them borrow money to fill their lots, and still owe banks money, and are having difficulty moving the cars.

if you are financing through your dealership, make sure it's through a decent bank. if you can qualify for a credit union through your school or work, they can usually give much better deals on financing.

However, if you're okay with that, then go for it.

run a car fax, it is a 2005 so that's prob the reason for the lower price, but even still its a great buy. As for the financing, used cars don't get the best rates when compared to a new car, if you have excellent credit you will probably get a 3-6% rate.

true, unless going with a CPO... i got mine at 1.9%...

PS - the car you are looking at is identical to mine (i dont have nav) and i paid 26K a year ago (but that was for a CPO)

bah, I didn't even notice that!!

12/12/2006 Ohio Police Report Case #20068304415
    Accident reported
    in Hamilton County
    Involving front impact
    with another motor vehicle
    Very minor damage reported

Doesn't sound like it was a big hit, so while I agree in general accidents are a no go, in truth there are accidents and then there are ACCIDENTS!!

The car is a CPO, so that's some peace of mind, I guess driving it would reveal if there anything horribly wrong (i.e. can't hold an alignment).

Doesn't sound like it was a big hit, and it is a CPO.
When I clicked your link and saw the price, the first thing I thought was accident. I paid 24k for the same year with 23,xxx miles, CPOed in black just a few months ago.

You can normally request a copy of the accident/police report from the county it happened in.

Also, the accident is the reason why I said you should get it checked out by a mechanic you know and trust. Although that is a good thing to do every time you're buying a car.

Re: Thinking of buying a B7 A4, evaluate this deal-

Its not CPO'ed. DCH likes to bait and switch. They claim the car is CPO certified (so like all the crap has been done, but double check to be sure), but if you want the warranty to be in effect, you need to pay them the $1500 CPO fee or whatever it is. So for $19k you'll walk out with the car as is, but if you want it CPO'ed it'll be $20.5k. It's not a bad deal if you're going to mod the car, but be aware that you probably have little to no new car warranty left, so you're flying by the seat of your pants. DCH is a little shady FWIW

Re: Thinking of buying a B7 A4, evaluate this deal-

a car cannot be certified audi CPO if its been in an accident.. so there is no way that is CPO'ed.. the post above me is probably on point in saying that they will try and charge you for an extra warranty..

fwiw... i bought a similar car, but no accidents, 20k miles, 2007, no navi and i paid 21k for it..or maybe 22k, i dono i cant remember

it also looks like those are the stock 16" wheels so that car is really bare stock other than the navi.. i think you can find a better deal, i would keep looking for sure!

i would look into cars even if they are out of your price range, and just throw an offer out.. you never know what good deals you can get that way.. if a dealership is asking 25k for a car, call them up and ask to speak so the sales manager and tell him 23k and you will take it today, if not let him know you dont mind walking.. eventually you will find an awesome deal

Great advice, guys... really appreciate it! I suspect you are right about that dealer being shady, small dealers in wealthy neighborhoods usually make money off of margin instead of volume, so really good deals are more the exception than the rule.

Probably still worth checking out, but I'll be walking in with a big grain of salt.

Check audiusa.com for their CPO finance specials. You can also narrow it down by regions. Years '05 & '05.5 have the lowest interest rates currently.

In my experience, the navi option tends to bump the price up significantly. I wanted Navi, so it was a little harder to find, but if you can do without it, you'll find a much better price.

i would straight up ask them why the car is so cheap. if they try to give you some BS answer, i would then bring up that you ran a carfax check and saw that it was in an accident. at this point, i would also walk out. they will use every trick in the book to keep you there, but just walk out. other opportunities will arise.

i know that it keeps pulling you in, because it's cheap, and it's what you want, but buying a bad or sketchy car never amounts to any good.

A car CAN be CPO if it was in an accident. However, QTC is right about dch being shifty with their "CPO-ready" lingo. They want 1500 for the CPO warranty of 2 years, otherwise youre stuck with only about 4 months left of factory warranty. I would test drive it on rough pavement and check that the front paint matches and look for other signs of damage. Also, pay attention to how much the 2.0t rattles at a stop light. Some are worse than others. If you like what you see, tell them to throw in the CPO warranty and youll leave a deposit on the spot. They play hardball there so id be prepared to walk as you can always come back.

Re: Thinking of buying a B7 A4, evaluate this deal-

regardless whether you have good/bad experience at dch (mine was good), just check out the car in person and ask if the 18,995 price includes the cpo. i just checked the audi usa website and they listed the car cpo with asking price 18,995. when you test drive it, 90% likely they will send you off on your own w/o a salesman sitting next to you to test drive. in that case, you can rip it up

EDIT: nvm, this is what's on the audi usa website:

Call Audi USA and see if the CPO is transferable. When I was considering one, the people at Audi were very friendly and very helpful.

Hey guys, got an update... Didn't get the car posted above, but:

Just bought a silver 2007 CPO manual with premium, convenience, and heated seated. I'm psyched, w00t!!

Edit: It also has bluetooth and walnut trim (which I prefer over the aluminum)

LOL, I should know better than that. I actually pick the car up on Thursday so all I have for now is a horrendous cell phone pic. Also the car is filthy, it came in off of lease literally as I got back from test driving another car.

I will update with better pics after I pick her up! :D

Thanks! :D I live near Chester, in Morris County. I got it locally at Audi of Mendham, in their Bernardsville showroom. Really just went out to test drive and ended up signing for it because my financee told me to, lol
