Vivid Racing the term "torn open CV boot"

It's a rubber accordion looking circular protective boot and is full of drive axle grease that keeps the Constant Velocity joint lubed (drive axle joint). The rubber axle boot is exposed to the elements and spins with the wheels. Over time the boot gets brittle and deteriorates, especially in our hot and try climate. When this happens it throws all the grease out and makes a big mess on the inside of the wheel and undercarriage leaving the joint with no lube. If the boot is not replaced in a timely manner it could be costly and may need the drive axle replaced. This boot replacement on an Audi here at Vivid Racing is $240.00 installed at dealers $400.00 installed. So when you hear the term "Torn open CV Boot" think Vivid Racing.

Do you clean the wheel well, brake and suspension parts when you perform this service? Since moving from SFO to PHX, my passenger side boot let go this past summer, and just recently, the driver side boot let go. There is grease all over the underside of my car. I hate the heat.

Or you just order the boot kit for $15-25 each from ECS and do them yourself.

$240.00 Is a good price for the boots installed. I work at a non audi dealer in town here and they run 335.00 installed.
