We got the thread up on this forum regarding what would you rather have the 4.2 V8 or the 3.0 Supercharged. For a while I couldnt decide myself, but been doing plenty of reading online and seeing that the 09 S5 comes with the LED Tailights, a 3G MMI System, and nearly 30MPG Highway is quite impressive. The one thing I'm curious if anyone knows is will there be a $1300 Gas Guzzler charge like there were on all the 6 speed V8's on this new Supercharged V6 ??? Kinda makes one think of either choosing to pocket the $1300 if there is no charge or lets add some more options, u know...

it shouldn't have a gas guzzler tax. even vettes don't have a gas guzzler tax (except the ZR-1).

Thats what I was hoping to hear, I emailed my salesman since I got a S5 on order and was told some time ago that around X-Mas time I would be called to make my deposit. So if he doesnt get back to me ASAP I'll go see him in person myself, because from the sounds of it; all the changes on the 09 S5 that I mite have to wait even longer for it to arrive...

The 3.0T won't be available in the regular S5 coupe until MY 2011. It will only be in the Cabrio for MY 2010.

Yup wont be seeing it in 09 as I was hoping for so V8 S5 it is. Just to keep u guys up to date my salesman Never got back to me, because hes no longer with Audi so I got some other salesman instead and expected arrival date is May. I was actually in today cuz they got an S5 in stock. Some women with more money than God ordered it and an R8, but only left with the R8, because she wants the S5 convertible now that word is out about it. Its a Phantom Black 6 speed, tan interior, Navi and Bang Olfen System. For some reason I didnt like it that much, but man was I loving the Red RS4 wit 20 inch black wheels they had in stock...

Oh gawd...give ur head a shakin'. You're not comparing a Toyota Yaris to a ZR1. The 3.0T compared to the 4.2 is MINUTELY better on the powerband. With some tuning and a few add-ons the 4.2 would be the better performer.

LOL....U guys are TOO MUCH, heck I was under the assumption some time ago that the V6 Supercharged S5 would be available this year so was just wondering if there would be a Gas Guzzler Tax on that like in the current V8, but from the MPG's it gets it doesnt seem likely and I'm well aware that the V6 Supercharged S5 wont be available this year, but bottom line is if your fortunate enough to get your hands on a S5 then u got yourself one hell of a machine, yet u guys continue to go at it why the V8 S5 will be much better than the V6 Supercharged S5 and those favoring the V6 keep saying why its much better...God can u guys just put this on mute already!!! If anything to settle the argument give it about 3 years and lets see the top Tuned V8 S5 vs the top Tuned Supercharged S5 and let that settle the argument!!!

Also, does anybody have pics of the new tail lights if that is actually true? What other differences are there between the 08 and 09 MY S5's???

Yeah, I found that thread after I posted that original question. Im just wondering if the statement that the cars with post week 49 build dates will have LEDs is actually truthful...

only difference i know of is the deletion of the power-folding mirrors. i too have an '09 and it has the bull, i mean bulb tail lights...
