Rims Suggestion For A 03 A6 4.2

Im definitely getting into a A6 soon, im going on tues to look at this one below and thinking of getting these rims immediately as the rims on the ride look f-ugly.

Any suggestions of diff looks to go for and what would look good on the A6?

Also what type of tires should i get?

the wheels on the car stock look better than the ones you want to get (which are R8 reps) , plus 8" wide is to narrow for a 4.2 :(

and you should really think about lowering it first , large wheels on a car not lowered looks horrid, trust me!

Depending on the life of your tires, i'll trade you +cash from you, my oem 18in B7 sline/ 2005.5 S4/ Rs6 rims for your fat fives. I had brand new continental extremcontis put on this past june, and I've driven about 1.5k miles on them.

And I have to agree with Frank on rim width - you can go beyond 8" and you are looking at slightly flared fenders on 4.2; The real argument you will rekindle is 18 vs 19 and 235 vs 245 (barely enough for Frank). Then you'll hear about spacers. All good stuff.

As for tires, you won't find a better value than Exclaims (General) for summers. As good as tires twice the price. Also good in rain (not slush). I'm staying out of the rim debates (at least for now)

Dude if I could find a set of Fat fives in Chicago, that is exactly what I would have on the car. I really think those are some nice OEM wheels. Slamming it just enhances the look.

yeah, i will advise to lower it first, it will change the look dramatically, then save some money and get at least 19x9 i would say ....or even 18x9, but don't go lower then 9 inch wide it will look horrid.....

springs are not as low as coilovers (Eibach pro-kit is popular choice -- not "too low"); hard to find 9" in 18" wheels (Frank can find them for you, though) and I'd think the horrid 8.5" look should be fine for 18-255s front and back (check numbers on 255/40 vs. 255/35). You want to have same roll diameter front and back, no? I like the ones with lip (590 better than 591; 593?)

i have the r8 reps on my car right now, in a bit of different colour i think. you will need to run spacers for sure to get them to sit flush. on my narrow body 2.7 they could use 2-3mm spacers in the rear still. couldnt imagine on a 4.2, mite have to do like a 10mm or something

I think this is an important piece of info that is perhaps being overlooked. I would think twice if that means upsizing your rims and lowering the profile on your tires too much. Make sure your clients are comfortable.

Reps vary in quality, so you have to get some of the better ones.

I have no ax here - if the OP likes the RS4 look, then quality reps would be the way to go. I'm guessing new OEM RS4s are cost prohibitive on an 11-12k car.

i second this for myself ...most people rock reps like that in 18"...that really gets me to wonder what people think when they jam the same type of rim i use for snow and roadsalt as there main rims just an inch larger..no offense to anypone rockin them its just something i dont feel is a big change

a6 s-line...i will be driving clients around thats why im thinking lowering it would change the look from "classy" to "sport"...i would like to reflect the class image and think with some 19's maybe that can fill the wheel well and give it the look im looking for...thanks all for the replies it really has made me look at diferent prespectives...ill keep all posted on whats happening with the a6

Here are my Borbet's. 18x9 et35 with 255/40/18 Pirelli's. They fit without spacers but I chose to put a 10mm on to widen the stance even more.
