quick... i need to find an Artic White Avant for sale now...

okay so due to unforeseen events, i.e. rear ending a Camry and the insurance declaring the Avant a total loss, i'm considering my options and obviously the options only involve Avants... but i'm debating whether to get an S4 Avant or repairing the Avant...

here's what i'd be looking for in term of the S4, and i do realise this won't be an easy find:
- B6S4 Avant,
- Artic White,
- 6 speed,
- ~50k miles,
- premium package,
- enhanced interior package: black interior w/ beige/white alcantara inserts,
- sunroof.

so far i've found 2 that came close, but one didn't have a sunroof and i don't care about the weight saving not having a sunroof, i want one... and the other had all leather seats...

keep an eye out...

$43,900 for a B7 S4 with 21,000 miles!!!! that is INSANELY high. I looked at a brand spanking new B6 S4 avant that was on the lot at SCS two years ago and they had it for sale for $45,000. Plus the B6 is way better looking than the B7

i've already contacted the seller of that B6 but haven't heard back yet... one of the options i'm considering is buying one w/ full leather and either trading w/ someone who's got alcantara inserts, or buying new seat covers...

i'm totally aware of that, it's a long shot but i think that would be the only Avant specs i would consider if i was to replace mine... i'll probably give it a week or 2, and then i'll have to decide...

but it's going to be a B6 for sure... i've already gotten a set of B6 bi-xenon european headlights...

There is a guy up here in Seattle who has been playing with the idea of selling his. Same specs as you wish, but he has done some painting. (easy fix)

I would do this... alcantera wears so if you have the alcantera added it will be brand new (ie no wear yet) and you can actually get white (as opposed to grey, or some other color that isn't the factory color if you want. This has been done plenty of times on B5 S4's. It's not even expensive, less than $1,000 for all four seats and door panels (armrest area) IIRC.

IMO the condition of the car and the region it comes from are much, much more important than smaller options like seat material. The next car I buy is not going to be coming from the northeast, the rust is just killer. Buy a southern car, stay away from the multitude of avants that come from the megalopolis area... they are ruuuuusty. I swear shops in CA don't even know how to deal with the rust, recently someone posted that a shop in SoCal gave up when trying to install his suspension because they couldnt get the seized bolts out. It's a art hehe.

With technology and well taken care of cars it doesn't really matter where a car comes from. Not like he is buying a 20 year old car where rust can be an issue.

going to be hard pressed finding that car anyway, I found an 04 (exact same specs) before I bought mine but missed it by a day.

Just get the one with leather and swap out the interior ....not like you don't have experience in that field. Get it and drop it off at VF for a blower,..then you'll really have something special.

too many miles (~97k) on the banana one... i did consider it though, but i hate leather seats and i'm not sure what combination of alcantara would work w/ yellow...

i went down to that dealership this past weekend, but i didn't see it on their lot, and iirc it's no longer on their website either... but like you pointed out: bend over on the price...

well don't get too excited just yet...

finding an S4 Avant 6 speeds seems harder than i thought it would be, let alone once i start including all the options i want... then as far as repairing the Avant, which could still be an option, there might some damages to the frame that would require the engine to come out... i'm not sure how i feel about that...

i've already bought a set of european bi-xenon headligths though...

depending on the 2nd estimate i'm getting done on the Avant, if the damages turned out to be much more than what we thought, i may get a beater for a few months while i search for an S4...

Pros:
They look cool
warmer in winter, cooler in summer
they don't wrinkle/wear like leather
they grip your ass when cornering, you slide on leather. It's a big plus on the track
super easy to clean, even grease, coffee, blood, whatever.

Cons:
The material piles over time. 100k miles and it looks pretty rough IMO and experience.


I would definitely get alcantera over leather.

Question...WTF are there so many silver A4's out there? I think its going to be damn near impossible to find a white Avant with a manual transmission. If I had known they were so hard to find I would have ordered mine in white!
