Real? K04 on Ebay

OK - spotted this EBAY LINK

I've messaged the guy asking what the #'s are on the blue tag and the housing. From the pictures the housing looks like it says "5304 101 50 95C" which is not a K04 housing correct? A K04 housing would say "5304 101 50 61C". Or are the only #'s that matter the one's on the blue tag?

Also - this turbo appears to have more than than 8 fins that a K04 is supposed to have. Looks like the 12 that a K03 has.

I'm not interested in this one, well interested but no money. so if anyone can say yes this is a real one then bid on it, otherwise stay away!

Finally got a response from the guy

Casting NUMBER on compressor - 5304 10150 95c
TAG : 058 145 703 j is the first set
29ff 001241 is the second set

So, It's a K03S!!

ok - he just sent me another email saying that this is a G-popshop.com upgraded turbo.

.....still looks like too many fins to me......But that explains the housing.

Read up on it and what it is is a k03s turbine wheel, k04-015 backing plate, k03-029 ported compressor housing to k04-015 spec, 1mm larger compressor wheel then the k04-015 wheel(k04-023 wheel), and a k04 specd actuator. Also uses the k04 bearings. I think I'm going to buy one and dyno it for them.

No - single K is fine and is what I have on the K03S in my room

Of the two pictured above, the K03-005 is on the left and a k03-->K04 conversion(g-pop) on the right.....right?

Not aware of any differences in the compressor wheel on the K04's

I only found one reference to the k04-023 being larger, but no info to back it up. K04-023 is a transverse turbo, fins look similar to the k04-015.

I haven't bitten the bullet yet on this turbo bc I can't find any hard evidence that this is a real k04 spec'd turbo. He is offering a great deal though.

Ended up giving the turbo a try and this manifold. I went and had my car dynod before I did the install so I can verify that it is real. I put down 174 hp and 195tq on a 13 psi spike. I'll update this next week on the dyno comparrison.

What kind of advantage would I see from getting an after market manifold and what's the difference between the k03 and the k03s?

That is the manifold. Advantages would be it will move the power band up a little bit. Ya when I was removing my old turbo I found out that it had already been replaced with a k03s. The dyno will tell all though come next week.

I have the J31 file. Is that outlaw turbo you have another form of a k04? If so what is the mm size of the compressor wheel?

The comp wheel is from a k04-23 so the same diam as yours but the exducer is slightly larger as Scroll had to machine the exhaust housing to accomodate it.

Bumpity - Update!!!

Update is that it didn't even last 50 miles haha. The compressor wheel was still just a k03s. Didn't measure the exhaust wheel bc they are the same as a k04-015. The manifold worked the way I wanted. Spooled it a little later and held more boost to redline. I'm looking into a 020, 023, or 025 k04. I've been doing alot of research and found alot of good info. I'm just looking to get 240 to the wheels on a k series. It will be sometime soon when I get the final setup going and I will update this thread.
