You could get a CF hood, CF fenders, and an S-line bumper?

    Re: Watch out for deer.

First off, are you ok? If so, then the damage is not that bad. Cars can be fixed.

Seconds, is the deer dead? If not, then go finish it off ;-)

Sorry to see that. With an impact like that, you may have knocked an IC hose off or something. Any CEL's?

    Re: Watch out for deer.

Man, scary. Glad you're OK. Believe it or not, there are deer on Maui... and people actually hit/get hit by them. They used to dart across the road that led to the hotel that I worked at in Makena. They'd be cruisin' on the golf course.

I am alive and well which is good. I am rather awesome sooo I wanna stick around.

Was a decent sized buck too. Could have gotten a rack out of it.
Was driving home on a few inches of snow taking it slow and deer pretty much ran into me.

No CEL. but car won't idle/rev smooth.
Going to let the repair shop handle it.
Likely IC piping. or something under the hood got disconnected.
    airbox was moved a little.

    Dramatic re-enactment.

I would take this time to replace the front bumper with the s-line one or replace my headlights with xenon.

    Re: Watch out for deer.

On my way driving from Vancouver BC to LA, I almost hit a crowd of deer crossing I5.

I stopped from 100+mph suddenly and watched the dear leader standing right in front of me and looking at me.

I was totally scared in the BMW 530i, never exceeded 70mph for the rest of the trip......

one thing to this, the bmw's driver side HID is too low to see things at speed.

Umm....I'm sure the deer wasn't happy with you, either, and you're very lucky!

These are good reads for everyone, sounds like you did the right thing. FWIW, December is listed as the most common month for these types of crashes. It's really critical not to swerve or over-drive your headlights at night, I don't care what you think of your brakes or your abilities. I think it was Jason Teller, the founder of AudiWorld, that had the same thing happen to him in his A4 and pretty much totalled it----I think you (hopefully) got off easy. Get it eval'd ASAP. Sounds like the car did its job, and the fact that you appear to have snow tires may have really helped you and your car. It's great to hear that you're ok, especially, as you say, since you're "rather awesome."

Adjusting headlights, especially on lowered cars, may be critical in night driving. I'm getting some driving lights installed to help with this a little more, lots of deer where I'm at too. It's an increasing problem with mobility into rural areas and urban sprawl into areas where deer were previously less encumbered.

One thought is that the xenons you could look for to replace (and clear corner, perhaps) are nice looking, and bright, but they have a sharp cutoff, for better or for worse. The more feathered cutoff of the halogens allows at least some view of what's beyond the main beam, perhaps better than xenons do. Just a thought. (You see that my preference is still xenons, plus driving lights.) Will post more pics on this when it's all hooked up soon.

Anyway, go buy a lottery ticket, feel lucky, and be safe out there.

    Cheers.

be thankful that that's all the damage you got. i've seen plenty of cars that have been totalled from wildlife - including the ones that go around online of the small fox taking up residence (forcefully) in the engine bay of a BMW 3-series. shame you didn't get its rack...

I've always been worried about hitting one. (Probably just jinxed myself)(knock on wood).

Does anyone know if those deer whistles work that attach to the car?
