    Hello Fellow Azer's,

I am in need of a smog check. I was just wondering if any of you know how may cats does our audi's have? Any where to find them. I have a custom exhaust and i don't remember if i removed my cat? Also if any members, can give me some tips on passing smog.

    Thanks in advance,

    Salt

they have one cat. It comes off the turbo. Do you have a CEL for bad catalyst? Because if yes than you don't have one. If not then you do. But if you don't have one you have to install anti foulers.

If he is stage 1+ or Revo stg 2 he wouldn have a CEL caused by not having CATS.

get them at any autoparts store. And i'm not sure if ANY mechanic would install them because they are technically illegal since you are legally required to have a cat. But they are for spark plugs. Basically they attach to your 02 sensor and prevent it from reading as much as it would being fully plugged into your Test Pipe, and by doing so they trick it into thinking you have a working cat, therefore no cel. I've had mine on for almost 2k miles and still no cel.

    Re: Catalytic Converters

if you didnt buy a test pipe for your exhaust set, you still jave a cat.

go look right after the turbo, is there a pipe or cat there?

Yes i have a chip and front mount intercooler? What are my chances of passing?
I just recently rec'd a CEL stating that i have a EVAP very small leak? Is that a common CEL? I dont remember that actual CEL number.

    Re: Catalytic Converters

the evap system is separate from the cat. If you don't have a code for the cat then you're good. Only worry about the stuff you have codes for. Cause the testing center will only not pass you if you have too many codes.

    Re: Catalytic Converters

if you dont have a cat, there will not be a catalytic reaction, thus, your exhaust gases will not be oxygenated i.e. CO instead of CO2. therefore you will not pass the emissions test. the CEL would be irrelevant. it is also illegal to remove a cat unless it is faulty and being replaced, so if you got your aftermarket exhaust from a shop that is on the up and up, most likely you still have a catalyst, so you should be fine. if the evap leak is sporadic (not a returning fault), it is most likely because of a loose gas cap. if it does return after being cleared, it could be numerous things (n80, charcoal canister, leaking hose or pipe in the evap system, fuel tank, filler neck, fuel cap, etc.
