b6 a4 2005 tail light

hey guys.

I just bought a new bulb for me "brake light" problem. Bulb didn't fix the issue. I tried the bulb from my other a4 (which i know works), but still, no go.

I also brought the entire housing/assembly to my other A4, still doesn't work.

Clearly something wrong with the tail light assembly. Anyone know where I can get a replacement assembly without replacing the housing?


Or the cheapest place to replace everything?

Or other fixes?

What is the issue?Dim bulb? Not working bulb?

it says it's the bulb, but it can't be. it's brand new. the bulb works in another a4. i also took the entire assembly to another a4, with a different bulb, and still had the same issue. Gotta be the assembly.

If your working assembly from your other A4 didn't work in your car...I'd guess it has to be in the wiring/connector; not the taillight assembly. Could be a B!tch to find. I'd start at the connector as the wires going into it are bent pretty severely. Maybe one came lose or cracked.

I had mine go out/on on my headlights and tail lights before, but a cleaning of the metal connectors (where the bulbs screw into the assembly) w/ a wire brush and some electrical cleaner solved my intermittent bulb out issues.

Check the connector and harness.

if the problem travels with the housing/assembly... wouldn't that suggest that it is the assembly?

car 1: bad left brake light

car 2 (now has car 1's housing/assembly, with another brand new bulb) bad left brake light

just go with a new tail light?

CHeck your bulb, make sure it is not for a cnvrtble a4, that could be your issue.
