    Engine hesitate at times

I dont know whats wrong but at times the car is hesitate to respond after I have come to a stop at traffic lights or junctions.

The problem appear for no reason so I dont know when it will happen. When it does happen I try to accelerate in D, S, R and even N without the revs moving. Revs do not move no matter what input I give until it decides to respond. Problem will last for around 5secs but I find it very dangerous at junctions once I've pulled out car cease to respond!

I tried to vagcom the car but can only get a partial reading. Which module should I scan if I do get the vagcom to work again. Could it be the CVT ECU (new ecu installed) playing up or the electronic throttle?

    All comments welcomed

    Many thanks!

sounds like a bad brake light switch

just go and buy one from the dealer (they're cheap ~$20) and DIY.

here's a diy write-up I used when I changed mine out for the same symptoms you are experiencing:

    Re: Engine hesitate at times

Both spark plugs and fuel filter have been changed. It seems more like the car isnt getting a signal from the accelerator.

I found out tonite that the left side brake light was out due to a bad contact. Cleaned and installed back and will see if that may of caused it but I doubt it.

Does this mean the ECU will check to see if the car has its brake on before moving? I can brake and accelerate at the same time. If this brake light would have such a fail safe I'm sure the accelerator would not respond if I applied brakes right?

    Thanks

Check to see if your cruise control is working...

A bad brake light switch affects the function of the cruise control as well: it won't work. Also, a bad brake light switch will sometimes cause the brake lights to come on when the pedal is not depressed. Have you had any issues with a drained battery?

The brake switch is actually a brake light switch and a brake pedal switch in the same housing.

Re: Check to see if your cruise control is working...

    Hi

I dont have cruise control on my car nor any problems with a flat battery. I will see if the car still has any problems after the fixed brake light problem.

I managed to get the car vagcom with no error codes showing. Will change the brake pedal switch if problems still persist. However, dont see how it can be the source of my problems as I can shift out of gears and also rev car with brakes applied.

    Thanks
