Ever since i bought my car ive been getting an average of 18mpg. I have done compression test. Everything ok. Spark plugs good. Today i finally built myself a pvc boost leak tester. No leaks found. Held pressure for 30sec. Normal i guess? Another problem ive been having is i keep loosing coolant. but I havent found any leaks. Dont know any other methods other than checking for spots on the floor. I loose bout a poland spring bottles worth a month. Also the coolant looks realy dirty and has something floating on top. Btw its an automatic Any suggestion or help would be very appreciated. Id sell the car if it wasnt for awd and winter snow.

The coolant loss could be a couple of things, worst case scenario it could be a crack in the block or head. How's the oil look, does it look like it's been mixing with coolant?

Do you know how, or do you have the ability to check the trans fluid level?

Worry about the MPG later, the coolant loss can be very detrimental to you engine/trans life.

im hopeing someone can point me in the right direction with this. The other day i started the car and noticed it was running a little rough giving off vibrations with rpms around 1100 and then i got a blinking CEL which after 3 sec went away and car went back to normal. First time this has ever happened to me could this have something to do with the low mpg? I cant get more than 20mpg on highway this problem is driving me crazy.

vag com and find out which coil pack is mis-firing, replace it. Also, may be a MAF making it run rough, had that problem, easy as hell to replace. Look at the oil and see if it looks like a milkshake if so, may be your oil cooler or a head gasket. start with the cheapest stuff first, keep the audi, when you have it all sorted out you will be glad you did. BTW check for codes and post them up
