Is it possible to raise PSI

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I got all vacuum system remove but SAI pump is still in place. How much PSI does it produce? is there a way where you can hook it up to boost lines with some kind of valve to create more pressure and run it constantly? I guess something like a little electric supercharger? would it help in times when turbo is not spooled up and maybe it will erase CEL. I know it sounds like you putting it back but without all extra vacuum line.

Did i confuse the monkey out of you?

Points for creativity. Don't think it would work like you are thinking.

im not exactly sure how SAI pump works, but as far as i know it makes your engine run LEAN by forcing more air, but then it shuts off once CAT reaches right temperature. I have SAI pump pluged in right now, and when i turn on my car it sounds like jet engine, so damn loud, hopefully pushing alot of air

Actually the SAI pumps air into the exhaust side of the head, that air never gets into the cylinder.

To do what you are talking about you would need a 1 way valve on that line from the pump, other wise the pressure from the turbo would blow right out the pump. Problem is that pump is not going to give you enough gain in power to over come the amount of power it is using while running. My guess is that pump will burn out pretty quickly running it that much.

i just got SO LOST in your last sentance, could you explain plz
pump is electric right? so as long as i keep constant power to it, it will push air, right?

i can use DV if i put it backwards, it will be closed by PSI in charge pipe, and opens up when SAI push air, right?

Charge pipe always has pressure since the turbo is always spinning.

My last sentence was stating that the pump will burn out if you try running it all the time since it was only meant to run a very short time.

Re: Is it possible to raise PSI

I didn't run into any problems. 1, I knew what I was doing as I was an ASE certified automotive tech for 15yrs and have built 10+ cars and trucks. 2, that pump won't move enough air or pressure to work, plus like Mike said they are only made to run for short bursts. 3, aren't still on the stock turbo? What kinda of lag are you trying to get rid of?

Re: Is it possible to raise PSI

That would make the car very hard to drive. The torque would suck to drive everyday. I'd concentrate on getting more power from 5k on. Free up the incoming air and the exhaust and you'll lose some of that "lag".

You might aswell attach a leaf blower to your intake....

plus, wouldnt your ECU mapping cause some problems with having boost at such low rpms?

ECU is actually made for that EXTRA boost at start, that's why we get CEL when we remove SAI system. ECU should read lean condition when you start your car ;)

It's not boost. That air is pumped into the exh. ports. It is put in a blown right back out. Seriously just stop.

Now we're talkin'! Put it right behind the MAF, it'd runs so rich you could put a 2871 on the stock file.

take off the sai system completely, remove the condenser, evaporator, and receiver/dryer and run your a/c as a belt driven supercharger. problem solved lol.

didn't know veteran members could give infractions. Thought you had to be a moderator.

this could be useful in the sense that it could/should be linked to the "what not to do to your b6" thread.

No this won't work, even if connected to the intake with a one way check valve, because the SAI pump cannot pump enough mass air flow to provide for the intake air needs of the engine, even at low rpms.

Where in my post did I say I could give him one? I was implying that he is probably going to get one as it is against the forum rules and punishable by an infraction.

All these responses but no one bothered to tell him that, by the sounds of it, his SAI pump is dead anyway.

*Edit* - Just noticing now how old this thread is, I'm sure he's figured that out.
