    Question Hi Octane Fuels?

Has anyone used higher octane fuels in the stock cars? Anything more than 100? What are the pro's and cons on a fully stock car?

i dont think you can run really high octane fuels on stock internals?!?!?!?! Even if its possible its prob not very good for your engine.

There will no benefit from running higher then needed octane on any car. It'll be a waste of money.

    Re: Hi Octane Fuels?

Higher octane means the engine needs way more adv timing, if that adv timing isn't there to take advantage of the higher octane you just end up wasting money and making less power then it did with the correct lower octane.

    Re: Hi Octane Fuels?

Another way to explain it is that your ECU has no idea you put high octane in, and won't make adjustments based on that. You need the aftermarket chip/software and then use the file that lets your ECU know that it has higher octane fuel.
But when you go that route, you'd better make sure you have a lot more than just the software.
On stock ECU, like they all said, it will do nothing for you.

    Re: Hi Octane Fuels?

To an extent the ECU will know the quality of the fuel with the knock sensors. But it will only use the amount of timing that the program has in it. If you run 87 in a car built for 93, it'll reduce timing to keep it safe. But if you run 100 in a car built for 93 it'll still only run a timing curve for 93, so you just wasted 7 points of octane and a bunch of money.
