Bout to start piano black trim, but need those who have done it's help first

    1. What paint and clear coat did you use?
    2. Do I need to hit the trim w/ a coat or two of primer (after it is sanded w/ 400-500 grit wet/dry sandpaper) or can I simply start putting coats of the gloss black paint down after sanding the birds eye trim?
    3. What grits did those of you use to start sanding and then polishing the trim after the clear coat is applied??

    TIA!!

    oh lord.

Use an actual paint gun.. To do it right, It will cost you about 200 in material.

Sand with 320, Clean well with thinner or asetone. Apply black paint, apply clear. Once its been clear, let it dry for 24 hours, wet sand with 1200, then 1600.. Buff with a buffing compound, then buff with glazing?polish compound..

My guess is that you are out of year league.

Why do I need to use an actual paint gun......I have seen DIY pics of guys who have done it themselves on AW and it turned out great!

i did mine using krylon plastic rattle can,its not piano black (because i didnt want piano black) its a semi gloss that matches everything else in the car. used 1000 grit to sand, and sprayed away. came out perfect. only thing i used primer on was the chrome trim around the shifter.
