Shifter pops in second

Hi All, new to this forum and just bought my first Audi.

Quick transmission question. After I shift into second, as the clutch is engaging and the wheels start to get power, the shifter "pops" forward a bit, no more than 1/4" inch or so (doesn't pop out of gear).

Once the clutch pedal is out, this can happen several more times if I let off the gas for a moment then push it again. I just installed a JHM shifter, and it is less noticeable, but still there.

Any thoughts on why this might be?

This is normal, don't worry about it. All 3 of my civics, wrangler, pathfinder and audi did/do this.

pretty normal, if it gets worse then your mounts could be on their way out.

Good to know, thanks. Coming from an Integra which had a much shorter throw and did not pop like this.

By the way, very pleased with the JHM Solid shifter, stock height. Saw they are on sale now :)

if you give the car gas it will do it too, but only really slightly. Hold your hand on the shift knob lightly as you drive and give it gas and let off and you'll notice the shifter kinda twitch like you described. Slightly pushes forward and back again.
