I am curious, anyone know what kind of warranties audi offers on used cars? I am in the process of possibly buying an S4 with 52k miles, and I don't really wanna have to deal with repairs and maintenance out of pocket nd shit, it comes down to if I cant get a good warranty I am not buying the car.... any idea what Audi has to offer? The salesman that I am working with is in the process of finding out, just curious.

    Re: Warranties

I decided on an aftermarket warranty through INDS when my car was at 49,000 it was about $3k good through 100,000 or 5 years. I have used it once to have window regulators replaced and a few other issues for about $1k with no issues. If you want the contact info, PM me.

    Re: Warranties

Audi CPO cars are covered for full warranty period (4 years) plus 2 years (CPO warranty) up to 100K miles. Non-CPO cars just have the remainder of the 4 year warranty/mileage.

Having said that before you commit to the car mentioned above, see if the 55K service has been done. If not, negotiate lower or get them to do it as part of the price. 55K is a "milestone" service where they change plugs, air filter, cabin filter, oil, oil filter, and inspect brakes and suspension for wear. It would suck to get your car then shell the $$$ for a dealer to do the service ($700 ??) If you're handy with tools then by all means do it yourself, but factor in your cost to the final price of the car.

    Re: Warranties

yeah im definitely trying to get them to factor in the 55k maintenance, possibly get rotors and brake pads changed too. I am more worried about down the line if some kind of issues happen with the engine or if the clutch goes out, having to replace that would suck.

    Re: Warranties

I have a CPO car and I my valve covers were leaking so bad I could smell it in the cabin. It was covered under warranty w/ $50 co-pay. So you can call me a happy customer.

I'll say that most warranties incl Audi's do not cover "consumables" such as clutch, brake pads, rotors, CV boots, filters, etc. These items are highly dependent on the owner's driving habits. I do think that most things that cause the check engine light to come on WILL be covered, like coil packs, cam failure, etc.

You can buy a private aftermarket warranty. They're pretty easy to deal with.

    A few good ones;

    -CNA Warranty
    -Great Lakes Warranty
    -National Warranty Corp.
    -Drivers Choice Warranty

This is true, but for the same cost as parts, I didn't have to get my hands dirty.

    Re: Warranties

Pads should be covered on cars 2006 and before under the Audi factory warranty. I was surprised that my certified cab came with free oil changes / pads and some other wear items...

EDIT: Just saw you were out of factory warranty - I hate buying from dealers, but the CPO made it worth the extra couple grand. Plus piece of mind that any mechanical issues will be fixed at the dealer. I'm not sure if the aftermarket warranties are honored at the dealer or indy shops.
