    Headlight Help

Hey guys I need some input. I just recently bought s4 headlamps and an HID kit. I have not wired up the headlights. I searched for the DIY write-up. My question is would it be worth getting the plug and play kit from ecs or should I just follow the write up. Doesn't seem to difficult to do but I would like to hear what you guys have done. Also my headlamps did not seem to come with a cover on the bottom which exposes the inside of the headlamps. Is there a cover and do I need it or can I make without. Any input and help would be appreciated.

Edit: I forgot to mention my car is pre-facelift. It's a 96 to be exact.

you need the cover. if any water gets iniside where your ballast is, you are screwed and i think you will probably have major fogging issues

    Re: Headlight Help

They are one piece. It looks like the oem igniter bolts up to the rectangular gap.

EDIT: I called the dealer and a tech told me that the igniter covers up the gap. But since I do not have the oem ballast how would I cover up the gap. I ordered an hid kit from ddm.

Could you get a picture of where the cover goes that you're missing? I know of the cover on the back but you said on the bottom. I might have that piece from my old lights if it's the same.

    Re: Headlight Help

OEM B5 HID headlamps do not have a cover for the underside of the headlamps.

The OEM ballasts are flanged, and the flange acts as the covers.

If your ballasts are aftermarket, just make a cardboard template, and either transfer it to plastic, or 2,5mm steel plate, and this will act as your cover.

    Re: Headlight Help

Hey guys sorry for the delay. I have been pretty busy. As Siena stated the oem ballast acts as a cover. I bought the Headlamps without the ballast so now there is the opening. Its really no big deal. I already figured it out. Just waiting on my hid kit to come in so that I can upgrade my headlights. Thanks guys for the responses.
