    What sandpaper to use?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My viper alarm remote is showing signs of wear and tear, and I'd like to repaint it, now that I have a lot of free time on my hand. I haven't used sandpaper on anything since elementary school, so I don't remember anything. I want to know what grit to use, especially for the clear plastic screen. Also do you guys recommend repriming something as small as this? Thanks in advance

    oh here's the condition..

and if this works out well I'd want to redo my RS4 Avant model..mhmmm
    Cheers!

I would use 600/800 dry, then 1000 wet and finally 2000 wet. You don't need primer, just spray you new colour on it (2 coats) and at the end make 1-2 layers of clear coat. It will be like new one, may be even better. And for clear plastic you only need to use 2000 wet. Then you need to polish it with Mothers plastic polish using, for example, a drimmel and soft polishing head. Good luck!

Well, 2000 sand paper is very fine, even though it leaves some marks/very fine scratches. If you want to remove them and have a really clean plastic, you need to polish it ... buffing machine or even with hand ...

Function over fashion man, i wouldn't even worry about it, if it bothers you that much i'd take it back to the store and get those ******s to replace it for ya, make a fuss over it and you'd be surprised what you get

    Re: What sandpaper to use?

Well first of all, it serves it's purpose perfectly well..just that i had this alarm since nearly day 1 of my car...so the wear is definitely not their fault..secondly ...viper and computer star(only brands i'd consider) uses these weird colours so definitely not what I want either... besides, I'm very anal for a lot of things... so it does bother me
    Cheers!
