Are you weighted? ....Introducing the new and improved B5 S4 Linkage Upgrade!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
NEW AND IMPROVED! Now weighted for smoother shifts and at the same price!

If you desire the ultimate in shifting, the JH Motorsports B5 S4 Solid Linkage Upgrade is the perfect solution. This linkage upgrade replaces the OEM rubber/plastic socket assembly with a steel spherical bearing (similar to what the JHM Solid Shifter does for the OEM shifter box). This will give you a full mechanical race car feel, and eliminates sloppiness allowing you to optimize shifts on the street or at the track. The linkage is most purposeful when used with the JHM Solid Shifter and the JHM Delrin Shifter Stabilizer Bushing, however these parts will compliment any SS kit, including stock shifters.

    INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING
    - JHM Modified OEM shift shaft link (Updated OEM version from a B7 RS4 with weight to aid in shifting ease and performance) ($80 from dealer), JHM Modified Steel Spherical bearing, stainless steel spacers, all hardware, loctite and synthetic grease.

    _______________

Combine this product with our shifter and weighted knob and experience the best shifting experience possible.

Already got the SS. Sounds real nice! Nothing beats a smooth shifting car. I remember reading someone who had put or stock shift pattern on these new knobs. Howd they do it????

Re: Are you weighted? ....Introducing the new and improved B5 S4 Linkage Upgrade!

Yes it works with the short shifters...The products are very nice as I just had VAST install the bushing and linkage to go with my JHM shifter I installed previously...shifts are extremely crisp and better than I had expected. A+ in my book!

One of the few mods where weight gain is acceptable!
Can you elaborate on the mechanical race car feel?
    Like a gated shifter?

Figure something like this comes out after I had my tranny pull off during a clutch install. Any one know how hard it is do a swap with the tranny still on the car?

They put the knob in a lathe and cut a recess in it so it would go into it and be flush. We may look into it as soon as we get an old knob to pop the pattern off of and figure out what diameter to cut and how deep. Not complicated at all.

Any shifter. The linkage is an independent upgrade that takes out slop and now has weight for more inertia and a little bit smoother shift. With our shifter and bushing upgrade it is unmatched.

You just feel VERY connected. No numbness. It is all metal to metal and precise. If you get the shifter/linkage/bushing trio the shifts are unmatched and the car will feel transformed. Then add a weighted knob for even smoother shifts.

Depending on how skinny you are you can do it by just lowering the rear of the cradle down enough to get the rods out. Worst case you need to pull the drivers dowpipe and or the drivers CV axle shield that bolts to the trans.

X3. I still haven't installed the original one yet. Do you take trade ins? If not, how much would it cost to "upgrade" my linkage?

With a welder and some steel anything is possible. It is the same basic part we just found that a new B7 S4 had one with weight that matched all the fitment specs. I put one in my car a while ago and it does smooth it out a little. Not as big of a difference as our shift knobs, but every bit helps.

If you insist on the new one contact me on how we can switch it out.

It is always nice to do our whole trio package with the shifter/linkage/stabilizer bushing. The difference with all 3 is incredible. However the shifter is an easy in car install. The linkage is usually best done when you are doing downpipes and or a clutch or a motor pull primarily to save on labor if you are not doing the work yourself or don't want to have to lower the trans down and maybe remove the drivers downpipe(depends on brand) just to pull the rod.

Most people do just the shifter. Most of the linkage and bushing installs are done when doing major work to save on labor though. Can't go wrong with the shifter though.
