    Re: PDF OF bentley manual

I looked for a pirated one or a torrent online for hours when i was doing my timing belt and I found this. Its for a B5, but its better than nothing and it saves you like 80 bucks. good for basics

The B5 is good reference data, especially if you work on the B5's once and awhile but be wary that a lot is not the same between the two. The timing belt service for example is a good deal different and the torque specs and tensioning procedure varies between not only the chassis but the engine codes within them.

The B6/B7 manual doesn't seem to be available anywhere 'under the table'. Seems the only way is the legit way, purchasing through Bentley Publishing or some of the vendors who carry the license for it.

ya the big reason I wanted it was for taking the bumper off for the first time. I found DIY forum postings to be the most helpful for everything like this. and much better pics haha

I don't care for the A4mods DIY, it isn't detailed enough, neither in description or photography. I was still able to do mine but I can see how confusion can arise from the current DIY. I am actually writing one for the bumper, to follow with my timing belt DIY; if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I can also provide a few pics if need be since my bumper is presently off the car.

The one challenge I had was getting the bumper off after removing all of the fasteners. The side section that meets with the fender (lower edge) has little tangs that hold on to the bumper, you have to 'peel' or pull away on each side before sliding the bumper completely off. It will require a bit of force but they'll come free.

ya those gave me some trouble but by far the hardest part of the entire project was removing those 5 clips in the front of the bumper. no finger room they are really tight.
