    Re: apr exhaust

Its a very well made system. I have heard one & it was pretty bland and didn't do much for me at all.. Main issue with it is when new it is very expensive. Depending what he is asking, it might be worth it. The down pipes are good from what I know, I would recommend those if he will sell them separate.. But for the cat-back I think my custom Magnaflow exhaust setup sounds a LOT better. My car is still very quiet when cruising but sounds like a supercar when you get on it. Everyone who has heard it has agreed how amazing it sounds..

Performance wise, I think the APR was only 2.25" piping, which will not yield much improvement if you are making any power. My setup is dual 2.5", and as for power? Well, I am the only A6 I know of in the 11's...

And my setup cost a fraction what the APR does new..

I have the downpipes with high flow cats and love them! Highly recommended.
I just ordered the cat back and will let you know how it is after the install next week (hopefully) Got the cat back for $1000 on sale.
APR exhaust for the 2001 2.7t allroad is 2.5" turbo back all the way to the mufflers then 3.5" tips tips. Should be the same for 2001 2.7t A6

    I Paid $1000 for cat back +
I paid $1500 for downpipes and cats +
installation = at least $3000 total cost to me (conservative estimate)

    $600 is a smoking deal.

I saw the pics and it appears there is no cats included in the set up.
    Still a great deal though.
Here are some cats off craigslist for $600 to completer the set up:

you will need the apr chip stage 2 to run apr downpipes as far as I know. I may be wrong, but you might want to check it out before you buy the exhaust.
    good luck

It's a GREAT deal -- hurry up! Can easily add free-fow cats (or modify if not loud enough). Downpipes have to be for 6 spd, but I'm 90% sure that's the only type APR makes!! and 2.5" is more than ample. These catbacks are very easy to install, too.

No, I don't have a video cam and any of my track runs you hear so many other cars over mine. Since you are right in NJ, do you ever come up to Long Island? I live in Nassau County.. If you are ever around I would be happy to meet up and let you hear it. But there is at least a dozen plus guys on this forum alone that will vouch for it..

That is definitely a great deal.. I would say just have pipes welded in place of the cats so it makes more power. According to APR's site, the pipes are indeed 2.25", so that is the only flaw in my opinion. But to be honest, unless you are Stage 3 you will likely not notice much of a power difference between 2.25" & 2.5". And if its still not loud enough, take out the center muffler. You can sell that for a few bucks I am sure. The down pipes are a definite keeper, if you don't want them I would give you $200 for them, so the exhaust cost you $400. The rest you can re-sell too if you don't like it. So no real risk..

What mods do you have and plan on doing? If you plan on (or have) K04s or GTs, the piping is too small. If you are just going stage 2+ you would be fine.. Unless you already have K04s or better I say get it... And don't put cats in.. "Cats are for Pussies" Thats where the term PussyCat comes from...

Don't think you will be able to decide -- insur adjuster will tell them what $ to repair vs. "total" it. Big question is what they think is its value.

    Dude that sucks... Insurance??

Otherwise there is a junkyard here on the Island that has a silver 01 2.7T, hood looked ok, rad was there, maybe headlights too. PM me if you want their #, but not sure if its too far for you.. There was a guy on Vortex selling Allroad lights for like $450 which is a steal cause I paid $850.. Check ebay too, there are grilles and lights on there often. And classifieds here.. Either way, good luck man.

Yes you can cut and weld tips. Yes I would keep it cause its a rare color combo. I am selling stock cats if you insist on having them.. But trust me, NO CATS will unlock a lot of power and spool!

    Re: apr exhaust

Not sure why Endee does not get cels without cats ("celiminators? modded O-2 bunges?). Cutting the valence is not a tough thing to do and I'm glad I did after himming and hawing about it for a while. Sam at EliteMotorsNJ did mine (he's an artist, but very reasonable -- saw, sanded, painted valence; he has new shop in S Hackensack, near Garfield border). I would just do that APR system (thru valence), mod it later if you want to make changes (add cats, whatever), figuring you've got a lot on your plate to deal with now. It's a very high quality exhaust to start from. Great price.

    with condolences, wofman

Don't know what site you are talking about, but I copied this straight from APR:
"APR's A6/allroad 2.7T Exhaust is a stainless steel, mandrel bent, cat-back exhaust. Our exhaust begins after the factory catalytic converters with dual 2.5" pipes, and continues back to the innovative center muffler. From there, it splits to two separate mufflers placed in the factory location. This exhaust really helps to awaken the 2.7T, but keeps the stateliness that it deserves. With TIG welding, fully stainless construction, and CNC'ed hangers, you will not find a higher quality system on the market. The 2000 and 2001 A6 2.7T exhaust has a pair of stealthy downturns, just like the factory. The 2002 A6 and allroad 2.7T exhaust has twin 3.5" Tips utilizing the factory valence openings.*Center muffler not shown, but included. "

When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.
