What wiper blades do you use?

I just bought a pair of Rain-x blades only to find out they dont fit our cars. I don't want to drop 130 bucks on the Aero set, but I need a good setup for the winter. What should I use and where can I get them?

dealer or i think ECS tuning has them, there like 40 bucks for a set

There is no aftermarket ones for ours? These basic ones wont be that great for the winters here.

I heard OEM from the dealer is the only way to go. I myself have been searching all around but havent found any that fit. Probably going to head to the dealer when i have time. People say it should be around 30 dollars at the dealer for some crappy old designed ones.

I got some refills at NAPA that work fine if you don't need the whole blade. They just cross referenced a brand and number I got from old-guy(they didn't have the ones old-guy suggested) and ordered me something. Took one day for them to get in.

The rain-X are better then stock.....there so good .....there about 18 bux a pair depending where u get them

Just bought some today and found that they dont fit. Funky little attachment on the aero arms. Dealer is the only place unless you just get the refills like the link above.

I got OEM refills from genuine audi parts. Part # B 895 955 429 A

Also tried Anco W22-R wiper refills before and they were a bit harder to install than OEM plus the rubber contracted during cold weather.

^what he said. theyre like $15 for both. no aftermarkets for the regular flat blades, but they just came out with bosch blades for aero's

i had the flat blades but i ponied up the cash for the aero wipers cause i get discounts at the dealer through my dealer. honestly love them.

the Aero blades suck a fat one in bad winter weather. my blades freeze up with ice after about 20 mins of moderate snowfall at anything below 30deg. within half an hour in serious conditions i'm trying to drive on ice and snow while sticking my hand out the window trying to slam them against the windshield to clear the ice. when this still doesn't work i start to get pissed...

the regular wipers have a solid backbone, thus are more powerful in winter weather and resist ice buildup quite a bit better than Aeros.

I use the Bosch Icon wipers. Same design blades as the aero blades, they are like $50 a pair but they work amazing. I had them on my old car too. I had them for about a year and a half on my old car, i went through 2 winters with them going up snowboarding and they work great in all conditions. And you'd be surprised how much better they work than stock wipers too. My gf just got some for her RSX and she was amazed at how much better they work than her stock wipers. Give them a try if you're up for it.

IMO they're a way better deal than the aero wipers that people upgrade to. Same blades without having to upgrade arms and crap and for way cheaper.

If I had never driven with Aero blades I would read this and assume that if I live in a place that gets snow etc that I can't use them. In my experience, over the three years that I had them on my B5 not once did I have serious problems with the wipers. In heavy snow and ice or freezing rain, any wipers are going to have some trouble. Plus the Aeros dont develop pressure points (like my stock ones on the B6) and work excellent in rain.

I am on the GB for the ECS kit because I need new blades and the arms on my car have lost a lot of paint somehow... plus I prefer the Aero blades. And it does snow/sleet/rain/ice storm where i live.

What about the rears on an Avant?

How about the Bosch icons? Are they a direct fit like I think it is?

Icons fit. I have some Rain X latitudes in my car right now, because after only 5 or so months, my Icons need replacing. Driving the past two days have been hell, because the roads, cars... everything's wet with snow so my windshield is getting pretty dirty and my icons are useless. Partly my fault because I shut my car off 3 times this winter with the wipers still on.. so when I go to the car the next day to turn it on while I clean off the snow, my wipers turn on with ice/snow still on the windshield which has screwed up the blades. With that said, I still expected them to last much longer.. the stock blades were better. Icons are great for anything but ice in my experience.

ok i've been meaning to ask this for a while. can anyone explain the difference between the Aero and the other one? Does it have to do with the blade being curved? (ready for flameage)

My Aeros have been great this winter! Even when it is down to -22 degrees F or when slush is being kicked up at the windshield and it is 10 degrees out. They work great!

I'm running OEM B7 aero arms and blades.

No judder, even on a dry screen, they're that good.
The silicone blades are light years ahead of regular rubber ones.

What they are? Well, your current blades are held to the windshield by 6 or so pressure points. The Aeros are curved like a U so they hug the windshield at all points and work better. They are pretty much RainX wipers you see on TV, just OEM. The issue is that no aftermarket blades seem to fit our wiper arms.

OEM non-Aero with Rain-X brand windscreen solution (the water repellent) and washer-fluid (season specific).

Works like a charm in any condition. If I get streaking I just use the defrost to warm the windshield.

I'll try the Aeros but have heard they are somewhat ineffective in cold weather/freezing-rain.

X2. Purchased a sweet set of rain x blades and there was no way they were going to fit. Had to pick them up from the dealer. OE Bosch.
