Car misfires badly, What's my next step?

The car is a 30V 2.8. Well a couple months back my car started missing real bad. Under heavy gas the car would almost die and the CEL would flash. If I kept it under about 20 it would run but very roughly. I replaced the spark plugs, the spark plug wires, and the Ignition Coil Pack. None of those fixed my problem so I got frustrated and brought it to the mechanic.

He suggested the intake manifold gasket, Well he replaced that and the problem still is the same. I'm getting frustrated.

BTW I forgot to mention the problem has mainly been cylinder 4 misfiring.

UPDATE: The mechanic also tried swapping injectors, swapping spark plugs and plug wires, pressure tested the cylinders and all that. Nothing fixed the problem or moved the problem from cylinder 4 and the pressure tests came back perfect. He ordered a scanner from Audi that should be here in a few days so he can do more detective work.

Do you mean the ICM (Ignition Control Module) or the coil pack(s), which there are 4 of and are an extremely common cause of misfires on the 1.8t?

    Check engine light?
    Have you scanned for codes?
    Which cylinders are misfiring?

the first, and next, step should be to scan the codes.

Yeah, that's been done. Misfire cylinder 4 is what comes up.

thats not a code. i want the number that came up, either P-xxxx or the vag code so i know exactly what it was. was that the only one single code in there? no other "too lean/too rich", 02 or MAF sensor codes? nothing?

These were the codes that came up when I first scanned back when the problem started. The mechanic said that just the one for cylinder 4 is coming up now, The others might have been old or just fixed by the stuff that was done so far.
