Weird phone call...

So i just got out of class and had a few missed calls from an unknown number..

I check the voicemail..some women with a british accent identifying herself as Nancy [last name] from the Audi office located in london. She knew my name, my car and that it had been in the revo booth. She went on to say that consultants from her office were at waterfest and picked a car to receive a brand new 2009 s4. She said i was the winner and the car is just coming out in london etc etc.. There was a lot more said than that, i just dont feel like typing it up

This is all rather strange, and id like to think its a prank, or a scam..but wtf? I am just confused right now!

Was the caller ID an overseas number?? IE: did it show a country code?

just don't be sending money or any of that stuff because that's how you know its fraud...

When you call and they ask for you credit card # to charge you for shipping, you know it's a scam :D Otherwise, you're very lucky

This would be an unbelievably targeted scam.

For a scammer to know about Waterfest, Revo, heck to even know about the 09 S4, would be very strange.

I would think it could be a prank more than a scam.

I would also check it out for all its worth but I certainly would give no personal info like others have suggested.

However, wouldn't someone have known of this giveaway? Surely whoever was doing this would have advertised it somehow.

and other ones are money related like I've been nominated to receive a complimentary 1-mil check LOL

i'm so sick of these pricks... I'll even have to pay for picking up these stupid phone calls... few cents each...

Was the british accent weak, or pretty real? Was it the traditional british accent you get in American TV or did it have a regional dialect? Also, do any of your friends do a pretty good british accent? Do you remember meeting any Brits, Aussies or New Zealandites? Do you give your number out often? Spout off about your car and waterfest/revo at work?

i bet i could read through your threads and get a good description of your car and who's featured it. not that i would do that, but i'm just saying that it wouldnt be very hard for any joe shmoe to find that info and try to scam you. i just hope for your sake its no joke. be careful and good luck!

Not to rain on your parade, but it wouldn't be hard for someone to figure out about your car in the Revo booth at Waterfest. Pictures are all over the internet and possibly in magazines. Getting your phone number is another issue (one that I might be a little worried about). See what happens when they call back, but it's probably a scam or a joke or something else like that. I can only imagine the Nigerian scam in car form

Scammer: So you send your car to London and we'll send you and S4 and you have ten days to look it over and if you don't like it you can return it and we ship your car back to you all at your expense...
