Taking apart Iforged 3 piece wheels... questions??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
so i have Iforged aero 3 piece wheels and i am going to be taking them apart within the next 2 weeks to get the faces painted.. all i need is the faces off ... now is there any seals or anything that i will need to replace or is it as simple as just getting the right torx socket and taking them apart and just putting them back together when im done? any help would be great as far as what size torx i need..where to get it... and any suggestions for when i put them back together so i don't scratch the paint? my main concern was if there is any kind of seal inbetween or not and what i have to do.. thanks a lot

Re: Taking apart Iforged 3 piece wheels... questions??

thanks but i loveeed my stern wheels after i got the faces color matched and i love these wheels way more then the stern wheels but polishing the whole entire wheel all the time is a lot of work and i think it looks more customized to my specific car with the faces color matched...plus polishing in the tight spots sucks

theres a pic with the sterns(at dubs at the beach) before i bombed over a curb and cracked 2 of them a month before waterfest..

so the faces are gettin color matched the insides of the wheels(part behind the lips on the inside) is gettin color matched(jus because its silver and gets sooooo dirty and looks like shit) and im still tossing up wether i am doing the center caps polished, black,or gold and matching the bolts to which ever color i pick for center caps... the lips will all be polished still... and i might just keep the bolts and center caps polished..i don't want it to look like too man colors nd tacky which is why i am sketchy bout the black or gold...

not even interested in buying new wheels... thanks tho... to get these painted will cost me next to nothing(dad is friends with body shop owner and sends him A LOT of business) so as long as i can take these apart safely myself then this is almost going to cost me nothing.. and i LOVE my wheels

Re: Taking apart Iforged 3 piece wheels... questions??

28 lbs/ft. sounds high, but that's what the guy at Iforged told me when i emailed them.

removing the faces was the easiest part if you have the right tools. get an impact gun, an extension, and the right sized socket for the nut, and just spin it out. i was able to pull them all apart within 45 minutes.
