Don't know how accurate this is, but they said it should be out early 2009, they have the code packed but they are fine tuning it when they get the car i guess.

    So.

who else is gonna be first in line?

Doesn't the B7 2.0T software get 252hp and 303 torque? I recall seeing a graph APR released of the B7 2.0T FSI software vs the B8 2.0TFSI software. Curves looked very similar. So 260/310 is teaking a little more power I guess.

Is that with OCT 91 or 93?

If it's OCT93, the stage I B8 file puts out almost as much power as the stage II B7. Based on this, I wonder if a B8 stage II might put out as much as a B7 KO4. Hmmmm....

the 2.0t in the B8 is awesome, the extra torque and hp bump, in the engine, makes a big difference when I drove the B7 and now owning a B8.

So fill in a noob here. What's the deal with a chip? Void warranty, ease of install, if it actually works, etc.

I'm sure there are stickies and tons of topics on this but here goes atleast what i know.

Legally, dealerships cannot void your warranty on your car for modifications done to it. what they are able to do is to refuse to cover something if a modification causes something to break. For example, if you put in an exhaust and you have problems with the back pressure and break a gasket, chances are they might refuse to cover that gasket. BUT they still have to cover anything non-related. This sometimes has dealerships being %#$%# and refusing to cover stuff despite it obviously not having anything to with your mods, but thats the risk you take with mods.

I would say your best bet would be to go to a dealership that install APR chip (or whatever your choice) because i know from experience if they are good people, they will go out of their way to "deal" with problems in your favor.

As far as ease of installation, we do not install it ourselves, it is not a replaced chip, it is simply our old ECU chip just flashed with new programming, so we actually dont have to do anything aside from leaving it for about an hour or so at a tuner.

Does it actually work? I know ill be dynoing my B8 2.0T right after the APR chip comes out whenever, so ill get you exact numbers, but yes, it definitely does something.
